I'm listening to Dan Bongino's radio show live as I type this. Bongino is a former Secret Service agent during the Obama administration so he knows first hand what the protocols are and he still has inside sources in the Secret Service who have been in contact with him for months before the shooting pointing out the dismal lack of security for Trump.
He was on Fox News on Sunday morning and he got so infuriated that Fox "lost" the connection with him. When he came back on a few minute later, he was more circumspect and calm, but he still said it was an apocalyptic failure. Specifically,
- the spokesperson who said that the SS had not turned down requests for more security from the Trump team was lying. Bongino said insiders and friends in the SS told Bongino that they were aware of multiple requests for more SS protection of Trump and his Mar A Largo home and those requests had been turned down.
- The roof (high ground) were not secured. They should have been identified as a risk in the pre-visit and the following steps should have been taken, but they were not.
- The buildings were not secured to prevent access to the roof.
- No agent on the roof.
- No drones or helicopters surveiling the area.
Bongino called for the immediate resignation of Kimberly Cheatle, director of the Secret Service.
