Look all your LRCers, listen to me, Jakob's 3:26 doesn't lend any or enough credence to being at absolute lock for the 1500m gold in Paris. Championships and Olympics are all won with a scintillating last lap these days, even at sub 3:30 pace.
We are looking at a final 200m close of 25.00-25:50 for the 1500m final, and 52.00-53.00 for the final 400m. Jakob has not demonstrated in the past 6-7 months, or ever since coming back from injury, ANY ability to close ANY FAST ENOUGH race from 800-5000m with such criteria, only Josh Kerr has done that, closing world indoors in 25.19 last 200m, without drugs in his system.
So no Jakob's 3:26 doesn't show me he is SURE to beat Kerr over the final lap. Kerr's sprint mechanics are much more reliable and sustainable as well, just look at his beautiful armswing, and immovable core section when he sprints, and those legs just open up like an earthquake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at Jakob sprinting, his legs are simply turning over at high cadence but crucially NOT OPENING UP AS MUCH AS JOSH KERR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Josh Kerr seems to cover more ground with his sprint stride than Jakob, and that's the difference!!!!
Remember, when Josh beat Jakob at Budapest, he did it on the outside lane outside of Jakob covering extra distance and still beat him.
Listen to me guys, I'm your one and only beloved RF King!!!!
If Jakob had finished Monaco's 1500m race with a 53.2 rather than the 54.5-54.7 he took, I can then maybe say he is more of a real threat to Josh Kerr!!!! Remember LRCers, El G closed his 3:26:00 in Rome 1998 with a 53.2s with insanely slow and heavy af shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
