There's no way Jakob wouldn't be able to run at least 1:45 in the 800 right now, most likely 1:44. Tons of runners with much, much slower PBs in the 1500 who can run a 1:45 in their sleep.
Exactly, and the crew (kind of small but still existent) of guys think his 1.46.4 "PR" still has relevance or the fact that sure, he is clearly a 1500-3000-5000 master which must mean he's relatively "slow" over 800m simply expose their lack of understanding and knowledge in the sport every single time they start chirping about it.
In Silesia alone he ran a final 300m in 40.32 - that is 53.8 second pace and that was after a 1200m in 2.46.82 seconds. Just stop and think about this. Jakob was able to stay right at or just under his anaerobic threshold for 1200m at 55.6 second pace - you don't think he could run one 400m in say 52.0 seconds and then follow it up with at least a 53.0?
Personally I think his capability is more in the 51.8/52.6 range, give or take a few tenths, which puts him right in the mid 1.44's. I really wish he would just enter a damn 800 at a smaller meet and/or post up a controlled TT in training, but sadly I don't think we will see this happen.
