Very common in us soccer to find ways to get citizenship for foreign players for world cup and other tournaments. Often the players had never been to the us

Problem #1: She's 5'1"
Problem #2: Her competition (the ones that didn't make the top 3) is getting faster and younger and taller. Markezich, aged 23, ran 9:14 in Paris today.
There is no permutation where she deserves to go to the olympics in the women's steeple in her current form. It's a hard knocked life. Ultra running has her name written on it. Her lower center of gravity will be an advantage on the trails.
You misquoted her. What she actually said is, “Part of me wishes I were from another country.”

this makes it even worse
I just read it as "I really want to go to the Olympics." It's a grand, hyperbolic statement to underscore how much she'd like that. I'm not sure she's saying that she really wants to have different citizenship.

that's exactly what she said. maybe watch the video lil timmy

In American athlete should want to qualify for the American team and get faster to do it. An American athlete should not run to a weaker country to make a weaker Olympic team. It would be pathetic.
aka Sam Parsons LMAO
you are only 7th best in your country and now you with you were from a different country so you could go to the olympics. that really is a weak silly take. you are not good enough, get over it. can you imagine every single athlete in the would having the same approach? i’m not good enough to go to the olympics on cross country skiing for norway, i wish i was from peru.

She should move to Canada and get Canadian citizenship. Her Olympic Standard would've gotten her on their team. But she should be thankful she's not British. There you can hit the standard AND world ranking but if the powers that be think you won't make it to the final, they'll send you a bag of crisps and tell you to watch the Olympics on the couch! USATF has MANY things wrong with it at the elite level, but they're still far better than British Athletics.
No way those cheap, lazy b*ggers from UK Athletics would send a bag of crisps.

Bro don’t diss Eileen. She could’ve qualified in any country. She got double gold. Her decision was not at all about her ability to qualify for the team.
Not necessarily. Have one bad race (or whatever) in trials? YOu're off the team. Just look at Mu

She wished us a happy 4th this week and now is saying this.... I'm extremely disappointed.
She said it in her latest video, honestly I'm surprised with her bluntness as most athletes that didn't qualify probably feel the same but would never say it. Still disappointed because she should have kept it to herself.
Lol stop being so dramatic

She and her boyfriend need to leave the country forever. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Perhaps you should listen to the video before writing out a knee jerk reaction. There are tons of context in there including she loves the trials do or die atmosphere, she recognizes all of the advantages she got from living here in the first place and emphasizes its a small part of her but not something she realistically would ever do. Its actually a pretty insightful video (okay minus the commercials, but hey gotta pay the bills) and she is very realistic about her chances. Considering your vast experience on the board, I would think you all people would consider the source material before taking a LR poster's paraphrased "take" of a 5 sec statement in a 10 min video.

she wouldn't do because she has no other citizenship. if she had she would do it, and would be right in doing so.
