I agree that Jerry would be a terrible option for her, but Ritz seems like he personalizes training a lot, so not sure why that couldn't work out. Are you suggesting Coogan because he seems more laid back? Because remember Coogan is also the guy who was asked about Valby's cross training and said that there's no substitute for mileage and that an athlete can't keep improving/be relevant in the 10km at the pro level without higher mileage. So he might not necessarily be a perfect fit either.
Ritz personalised, personally destroys everyone.
Isn't it obvious she needs to run more, she has zero hip extension, will not be world class if else doesn't chill with the elliptical
I think you are confused. Sure, her problems may involve the hips, but ‘just run more’ doesn’t fix it, and can actually make it worse.
Really now, (as an example) how much ‘mileage’ do you think Usain Bolt was stacking when Glen Mills worked over two years improving his mechanics?
i noticed in the video she quickly complained about taxes. so how do the state income taxes compare in the various states where top run groups are located?
Finances is just a part. Performance is a fundamental building block.
If her sponsor is not going to put this exceptional distance athlete full-time living and training at altitude, then she probably might as well stay in Florida for the Vitamin D.
Not necessarily for distance, but Grant Holloway, Anna Hall, Joseph Fahnbulleh, and many others are still based in Gainesville. The University of Florida has some of the nicest athletic facilities in the entire world, with a full structure of support staff (doctors, trainers, masseuse, strength coach). Given that Valby's cross training program based at Florida clearly is working for her, why change that now?
Might as well stay at UF for cross, then. Train with Olemomoi in essentially a pro setup. When she's ready to level up, move to Boulder / St Moritz / Flag or whichever altitude spot suits her.

I tend to agree with this...And Doris is transferring over and could be a strong training partner. Perhaps she wants some altitude training, but it seems groups like Dark Sky, NB Boston are receptive to allowing athletes to jump into workouts.

Can’t they find a 14:40 guy to be her workout pacer? I’m sure there’s a grad student there who ran at his undergrad. Pay him a decent amount to do so

maybe her best bet would be to base out florida and do several long camps at altitude. the ingebrigtsen way. she would need some people for social emotional support when she's travelling though. im guessing she's not fit for the lone wolf, nomadic type of lifestyle.

I just saw a post from Grovdal on the track with two male pacers, prepping for Paris (and taking lactate measurements.)

But Grovdal, like Gidey, has practically flawless form mechanics, so Valby needs some exceptional instruction and work beyond just the standard ‘distance coaching’.
I can't see her moving away from her current training situation. I would assume that she will be sponsored by Nike and stay right where she is at. She has found a very specific formula that is working for her.

Admittedly, Bolt, being a sprinter, wasn’t the best comparison. But my point was that just stacking more mileage can continue to ingrain bad habits, unless they are addressed with ‘stuff’, including drills.
In their 20-25(?) minute dynamic warmup drills the Ethiopians go through every time before they start running, one they do is overhead arm movement while the legs are doing a separated movement pattern. I think there is some reasoning behind their madness besides just getting warmed-up.
