Looks like you haven’t watched any 5000m outside of budapest. What was Gebrihwet doing to consistently place anything but first in the 5000s in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016?
I’m talking about last year, where none were in the top 4. Running a few seconds faster means nothing to Jakob lol.
This year Gebriwet is another beast. And given last year's failure, you really think the African would let it be slow again? lol
Why do you think it matters whether it will be fast or slow? You don't believe that Africans respect Jakob? They all know that the chances of gold, all together, are far less than Jacob's chance. All African racers respect Jacob much more than the average spectator.
And given last year's failure, you really think the African would let it be slow again? lol
That's what people said every year during the Mo Farah era. I mean I hope you're wrong and we actually get a fast race because it would be fun, but I have a feeling you're going to be sorely disappointed when we come back to this.

Heard this for 6 straight years while Mo Farah was killing them in tactical races. Heard it again last year after Jakob crushed them in 2022 and yet they still let it go slow. I'll believe it when I see it. The Ethiopians are too self interested to work together, we see this literally every single year

Fast or slow, doesn’t matter. unless they run a WR, Jakob will be there. And even if they do, he will still likely be there. remember he ran 12:48 in 2021 and has improved since then
Can anyone plugged into the Norwegian scene tell me what is going on with Filip? Seems like a shell of himself
Filip had a really good training winter and was pleased with his opening race at 3.38 (better than his opening in the year he won the Euros 1500m.) But then he developed a hip injury…
I guess the idea was that Narve was fresh and Jakob wasn’t. It’s interesting to see two top guys race at Nationals even if there’s a disparity. That being said, yes Narve only beats Jakob if Jakob has a bad day.
Yeas, but don’t you agree that Nordås by this race proved my point that he might be a factor even in a championship 5000m if everything align perfectly for him..?
Jakob also raced a 1500 the evening before with zero taper and heavy training. I'm sure he's not concerned about Narve.
I think you misjudge Jakob’s attitude (but who knows)…
When he raced Kerr and Nuguse in the 2024 Bowerman mile, I think he knew he might lose. But he also knew he could do a good race, so he wasn’t afraid ( he knows he can afford some lost races). The same at Bislett games against Cheruiyot. And in the 3.43 mile 2023 with jet lag, and the 3000m the next day: He is not afraid to put himself out there under conditions not a 100% ideal. And the same in this 5000m vs Narve, I think: He knows his countryman has fierce unreleased potential in a 5000m race (including closing speed), and he knew he himself would be leggy and vulnerable after the all out windy 1500m 14 hours prior to the race. So why did he race when he knew he could get his first adult lose to a Norwegian (and not just anybody -a guy he is at odds with)? -In my opinion because Jakob wants to be real -he doesn’t want to hide his vulnerability. He wants to become so good that he dominates and wins even in vulnerable situations. And if he’s not as good as he desires he doesn’t care if he loses. -It’s just the reality (that then makes him lose -he then has to go back to his long term training, and become even better..! -Just an interesting long term mindset, IMO…).

He needs to show how easy it is to protect his fragile ego.
There are so many signs that disprove the theory of Jakob having a fragile ego: 1. He has lived up to the expectations put on him.
2. He isn’t afraid of putting himself in vulnerable situations on the track.
3. He hasn’t (despite being resourceful and intelligent) gone for a prestigious university education to “hide” his un intellectual background -he just feels secure enough to prioritise his running career for now.
4. He’s not afraid of being a big mouth. And not afraid of criticising himself. And he doesn’t say things to please everybody…

54s last lap, Halberg has done this 60 years ago. Not faster in the 800 than Harbig almost 90 years ago. His kick never will match Ryun's.
0.5 seconds slower in the steeple at age 16 than former NZ great Euan Robertson's long standing NR. 2 Miles WB stronger than Komen's 3k mark and 2000m WR as strong as El G's 1500m mark but doesn't - and likely never will - have the 1500m mark. Just an athlete not worth talking about.
