Honest question here: did Snoop ever commit serious crimes? People in this thread are calling him a criminal and murderer. I thought he just rapped about smoking weed and hot women. He was never more than an entertainer, was he?

People here think cannabis use is as bad as, or worse than, murder. Likely due to propaganda from the Nixon Administration.
Ever hear him call UFC matches? He’s awesome. Anyone have a clip?
It's not a matter of what you do, but what you get away with. I don't have any problem with Snoop. He's not evil and hurting innocent people daily like those institutional puppets and the big dogs of corporate America. People like to knock others off a pedestal so they feel better about themselves. They'll criticize one thing they wouldn't do themselves to bring a star down to their level or below. They don't go after the bums, just the successful people. That about sums it up here.
Surely this means NBC track broadcasts have 'jumped the shark'.
Next thing NBC will have Lizzo covering synchro swimming and that Bud Lite guy/girl doing figure skating.
Got to name call - I give you one loser...
Nothing against Snoop. Smart guy who knows how to self promote and entertain.
But this isn't an attempt to grow the sport. It's just NBC trying to get people to watch the broadcast to get more ad dollars. The additional audience they might isn't there to watch any of the events they are there to be entertained by a celeb.
This does little to 'grow the sport'. But, hey, the fans don't actually have to pay attention to the steeple (or whatever) they can be entertained by Snoop.

It will be fantastic when Wikipedia and Google spread out to the entire nation. Something to look forward to. Imagine - all the information you don’t have, out there for you. For free and instantly.
I got more texts about Snoop commentating track than I did about any results from the first two days.
I can’t believe people are complaining about it.
Weed ban was always on the books. Incredibly stupid, but was always there. IAAF still stuck in the past and paid off like FIFA. They still can't get past Butch Reynolds...

I like him being on the broadcast and think he's funny, but the thing people are referring to is his bodyguard killing a rival gang member in the 90s when he was 22, arguably in self defense. He was acquitted though.
You morans that see this as a bad thing or probably inconsistent here.
Is Caitlin Clark is a good thing for the WNBA? Of course, but Angel Reese and others don't like it because the attention's not on them but Clark has been tremendous in getting attention for the WNBA. Trust you me, the US trials will be on TMZ and the other entertain shows tonight and with 6 days remaining that could mean more viewers for the sport.
Back in my sports management days, the first time I ever made USA Today was when it came to light light that I was arguing with an athlete. I thought the call was off the record and probably it was a little too candid but my name was nationwide the next day, word for word. My phone was ringing off the hook and that showed me that any press is good press. Go, Snoop!
He incredible.
I'm sure they paid him well to be there, and he is a safe yet "hip" cross over personality in a sport that desperately needs attention.
This question is nothing to do with track, but who is the next Snoop? He broke out on the The Chronic in 1992, who is this generation's Snoop or Dre?

Does anyone really think Snoop Dogg is good for the sport. He knows nothing about Track & Field and it makes a Mockery of the Sport. Couldn't NBC at least find a person who did the sport. If I want to see this crap during the Super Bowl I can watch Nickelodeon TV.
As a former steeplechaser who has to explain the event to most people when asked what event I ran in college... His commentary wasn't a mockery. It was hilarious. It's what most people who don't watch track beyond the 100m would think. What's wrong with making a little fun of ourselves and adding some entertainment? Pro sports have silly half time shows and kiss cams. What's the difference? Runners are all major nerds anyways. (Lyles and Nguse are examples of how nerdy runners can be).

He was part of Peacock's coverage of Tokyo too. With Kevin Hart. He's a veteran now.
And some of their stuff was hilarious. The equestrian commentary about the horse with the crip walk kills.
Yt guys forever hating on black people. Snoop doesn't give a F about you and your feelings.
Here's what you do:
1) Get a VPN
2) Watch the olymlics through another country's streams
Canada and the UK stream all the events live through their national broadcasting. You get to bypass all the dumb commercials, sob stories, and other awful parts of NBC's presentation.
