We merged two threads into 1 and then re-named it so this would be the offiicial thread for the day. The other threads were titled, "Euro 1500 final" and "Euro 1500 final today - can anyone challenge Jakob?"
According to the majority of posters on this board Gourley and Habz as far superior 800m runners should easily be able to outkick Jakob.
I somehow believe the opposite will happen.
As the bumblebee who according to the "scientists" shouldn´t be able to fly but does it anyway, Jakob will - despite his supposedly inferior kick - outsprint everyone as (almost) always.
Jakob is simply built different. He will win like he does 95% of the time.
I hope this trend for bigger fields in track races continues.
Ideally, championships will do away with rounds alltogether, and just have 50 - 100 runners in each final. You could even have the entire Championships condensed into one day, which would make for better television.
They could even all start at the same time- 100m, marathon, steeple etc. May the best man win.
How nice of them to put a drinks station out for the men (which is being used to chuck water over their head only 3 k in) but they couldn’t for the women yesterday when it was warmer and more humid.
LRC add: You also have the women's 800 final at 3:28 pm ET and men's 10:000 at 3:44 but they've put Jakob as the featured entree - the last individual events of the championships - at 4:26 pm ET.

She is just too damn passive. Yes, she's personable but she races so passively, goes out conservatively to begin with then coasts down the straight like she's not pushing. Maybe it's just not in her.

She’s racing like that on purpose. It’s very clever- why expend more energy than she needs to? No she doesn’t look like she’s pushing - that’s what’s impressive, it’s effortless and the minute she needs to, she pulls ahead, again without looking like trying.
