It should not be too difficult to get a pacer to go at least a mile at 8:28 pace in a high school meet if there are no two mile races available. Age will be an issue for him only after he comes back from his mission, presumably, and is potentially still competing in college at 24, but he's so good, he may actually turn pro before he's 22.
