We changed the title which initially said Fred was dropped by Asics. SInce the statement says they mutually agreed to part ways, we changed it to that.
The way Asics handled it pissed him off and understandably! If a world champion doesn’t have his spikes on him for whatever reason he couldn’t get back his bag at the airport, ASICS could easily handle that in NYC!
He was respectful to Asics, he still wore their clothes on. He respects fans and the organization as well despite their poor blocks, he stayed more than an hour signing autographs to fans.
Bro got too big for his spikes. He ain't personable, gives horrible interviews and is just a crap ambassador for the sport.
His post-race interview was great as he keeps things straight, direct and real.
Asked about pressure going into the trials he said "Pressure? Pressure is not knowing where you are going to sleep at night. That's pressure. Track and Field is not pressure, it's lifestyle."
Asked about confidence for the trials he said "being around 26 people in one house, you should know."
Asked if he will do anymore competitions before the trials he said "I train with the best so I compete every day."
A top 400m runner (43.64 pb, Bronze 2019 World Championships) reinventing himself to become a top 100m runner (10.76 pb, Gold 2022 World Championships,Silver 2020 Olympics) is great for the sport.

I disagree. Athletes get the short end of the stick in this sport and are at the mercy of governing bodies who don't look out for their best interests. He was right about the starting blocks - they were likely borrowed them from a local high school. Top athletes in the sport should expect higher caliber equipment that does not risk injury. That goes for his spikes too. I appreciate Kerley is blunt and doesn't candy coat. He risked his livelihood so clearly it's important to him, and the rest of us should be concerned too if it's that bad. We need more attention on how poorly the sport is managed and thankfully he has the guts to not go along for the ride. Athlete careers are short along - his could be over tomorrow. He's looking out for his best interests since no one else is.
