Exact, sorry I took the wrong line 2'22''76 for Jakob yes
Jakob ran almost a second faster than Mills over the last 100m.
But BUT ... isn´t he one of the slowest 1500m runners out there!?
Over 800m? Yes. He lacks a kick which is why the likes of Jake and Josh could move past him on the final lap. The 5k has nothing much to do with his closing speed over the mile.
Ing closed in 53 and didn't look to be anywhere near flat out. He was looking around the whole time to see if he needed to accelerate more.
I down voted this as Jakob was breathing hard that last lap. He didn't have a whole lot in reserve. An extra gear? Yes, but today's race/workout wasn't simple.

Josh won narrowly because Jakob was 2.5 sec from his SB/PB (note that I don´t mention illness in order not to upset you). Jakob would have outsprinted Josh easily if Jakob had been closer to his top shape. As he outsprinted Josh easily in DL Oslo and Lausanne.
To live up to my user name I will add that Josh possibly is at least one level up this year so Jakob might need not only to find his 2023 shape but perhaps also improve on it to beat Josh if the latter brings his best shape to Paris.
Jake won narrowly over Jakob in 2022 because he ran a smarter race saving his energy by sitting quietly in the field and cleverly passed Jakob just before the last bend. Jake ran a great race but didn´t win because of superior speed. Was it Jake´s best race ever? I think so. But Jake isn´t faster than other top milers. He was beaten shortly after Eugene by Hoare and Tim in the common Wealth final.
And it is already history since Jakob was one level up in 2023 both aerobically and speed wise. I predict that Jake never will beat a healthy Jakob again, fast race or not.
------------------
800m: Jakob hasn´t an impressive PB but that is because he has not run a serious 800m race since was 19. But through his teens he ran much faster than Josh and Jake did at the same age in the 800m.
So I am sorry but your (and many others) narrative about Jakob´s inferior speed is completely false.
Henrik telling norwegian tv he was diagnosed with crystal desease in February. Been causing him much trouble. A pity he never can have a fit body and show his real potential.
I know he is better at the 1500 but I can’t shake the feeling Nordas is a 1 hit wonder. It wouldn’t shock me if he doesn’t make the 1500 final in Paris.
I thought the same thing after Kerr struggled in 2022. It just takes time to adjust motivation after a season like Nordas 2023.

So Jakob has no kick but those guys have a negative kick. Thats my understanding. He also just runs 53 for 5k so he still cant kick. Absolutely embarrassing.
If you look at his prs Jakob therefore would have actually gotten slower since he was 18 if we assume supershoes have the exact same benefit for pros compared to 15:x 5k guys. Not saying they dont help but it isnt as much as people assume.
Someone that closed 5000m final (Rome 1987) in 52sec 93 in old shoes and track.
And the race was 14:32 so maybe they had a little more left.
There’s no doubt that Jakob can close a 5K in 52 if / when he’s pushed in Paris. he will be leading at the bell too so it’ll take 51.high to beat him in a slow race
Filip did low 51 when he won European 1500m championships in 2016 in 3.46 and i really struggle to see Jakob being any slower. Unless the race is sub 13 i think sub 51 is needed to beat Jakob
