One of the stupidest things posted here. And that's taking into account what rojo said yesterday about Bol's performance and that rekurunner (sp) guy continue to spout about drug cheats.
But he’s Sprintgeezer! He’s the authority about all things sprinting!
Probably just keeping her options open right now while they consider what to run at the trials. If she does decide to run the 200 it might be to help her use her influence to get into the 4x1 so she can pick up a easy medal. It's worked for Gabby and Alyson Felix and even Noah when he wasn't running 100s as seriously.
If they want an easy medal, why not the mixed 4x4?
Schedule is this (including 400m, 400H, 4x400, 4x400 mixed, 4x100):
August 6: (11:40 - 400m Repechage), 20:07 - 400H Semi-Final
August 7: 20:45 - 400m Semi-Final
August 8: 11:10 - 4x100m Round 1, 21:25 - 400H Final
August 9: 10:40 - 4x400m Round 1, 19:30 - 4x100m Final, 20:00 - 400m Final
August 10: 21:22 - 4x400m Final
Finals are in bold, relays are in italic. Repechage rounds are in parenthesis because there's an incredibly low chance she'd have to do it. I'm not really sure what's doable for a top athlete like her, but if she's doing the 400m/400H double, it looks like it would be easier for her to do the mixed 4x400m before that so she's not racing finals on 3 consecutive nights. 4x100m/400m double looks impossible.
There is no way she is getting a sniff at the 4x1 w/o running at least one open 100m. The 100m is the biggest event in track and field, there is no way an athlete who thinks they could run a fast 100m who would not have done couple of them by now. There is a lot of specific work required to run a fast 100m, block starts, acceleration drills, etc., Sys does not have time for that. With that said, I think she can run faster in 200m but that is because she is a mid-48 400m sprinter who is stepping down. All great 400m sprinters can run a fast 200m.
Looking at the schedule, the 400 and 400H double makes sense, and she could still come back for the 4x400 final.
8/4: 400H 1st round
8/5: 400 1st round
8/6: 400H SF
8/7: 400 SF
8/8: 400H Final
8/9: 400 Final
8/10: 4x400 Final
Now, that's 7 straight days of racing and the 400 isn't the easiest to recover from, but I think it's doable. Part of the calculation depends on what Femke Bol is doing. If Bol is doing 400H only, that may change things for Sydney as she'll need to be at her best to win.

She 100% will not do the 4x400 mixed final. I doubt she would continue in an event if she had to do the repechage round.
The women's sprints are so terrible right now, she should run the 200. Or the 400. Get a gold in a real event. All of the fastest runners, besides Shacarri and Julien Alfred are from the old guard and have faded. It will never be easier to win one of those two events.

Going back to Athens in 2004 is the last time the sprinters were this bad. 100 medals were 10.93, 10.96, and 10.97. 200 medals were 22.05, 22.18, and 22.30.
I 100% don't think we're breaking 10.8 or 22.0 for the winners this year.

There's no ''if'' to this. Bol will do 400H and both relays. She will not do the open 400.

If SML actually lines up in the women's 200, this could be absolutely wild.
The last 3 who made it to Tokyo:
Gabby, Jenna, Anavia
All three of them are likely in trouble and here's why:
Sydney might be the favorite considering how badly she destroyed that field at the LA Grand Prix. Sha'Carri seems to be in good form after taking down the loaded Pre field. Jacious Sears ran 10.77 and might be a threat if she's healthy enough. Abby Steiner is back and starting to sharpen up again. Britany Brown has been winning almost everything. That's 5 girls who should all be able to go well under 22. Who else am I missing?
Sydney in three event probably being used to get race sharp since she missed part of last year with a knee injury.
Sha'carri is no 200M runner.
Sears won't be ready
Jenna is a mess. Bad decision to move to Kersee. She will not be a factor
Steiner looks like she's rounding into form
The 200M rests on Gabby, Brown and Steiner's shoulders.
Sha'carri is literally a global medalist in the 200m wtf are you talking about?

Don't be ridiculous. The 100 will be won in 10.6 or better. The 200 in sub 21.8

Is this for sure? I think Bol has a chance to win a gold medal in whatever event Sydney doesn't do. Paulino is the only other runner who could possibly beat her at 400 flat. Sydney obviously could beat her at both. There's no one else even close. Miller-Uibo is done. Kaczmarek and Sada Williams aren't as good as her. Bol beat Kaczmarek by a full half second in Munich, and Kaczmarek is the reigning Worlds silver medalist. In the 400H, Little and Clayton are a similar distance behind her.

Who is running 10.6 that's out there right now? Remember, the freaking Olympic Record is 10.61. 21.8 could happen, but it would have to be Shericka, and she's shown no indication she's in that kind of shape.
Boring is not the right word. And Felix is not the right comparison. What world record did Felix hold?
Her 400mH record is hands down the most impressive women’s record on the books in this era of sprints.
400mH isn't a sprint.
And her 400mH record is nowhere near the most impressive--yes there is a big gap back to 2nd, but the 100, 200, and 400 records have stood for an eternity. Even Privalova's 60m has lasted for 30 years.
If otoh you mean the most impressive set in "this era", I would observe that it is the ONLY one set in "this era"--but again, it's not a sprint.
But you're right, boring is not the right word: crushingly boring is more accurate. There is literally not one second of free mental time during which SML pops into my head, unlike other sprinters and WR-holders, and even 400mH athletes. There are plenty of ways to transit 200 or 400m that are faster than SML. What SHOULD be interesting about it is that it is SHE who is doing it--but, like Felix before her, I give it a big meh. She is eminently suburban in attitude, a total dud, not someone about whom anything appears actually interesting. Just a palette of beige, the expected suburban pablum.
Lame. Heck, even SCR is way more interesting, and she hasn't even gone to an OG yet. Kambundji is more interesting. Tarsis Orogot and Sani-Brown are even more interesting--and Sani-Brown has to be the finals guy with the absolute least visibility EVER!!
SML, who cares. I will be watching for Bol and Dos Santos in the 400mH, Tebogo in the 100 and 200, Gardiner in the 400, etc. EVEN CHRISTIAN COLEMAN IS MORE INTERESTING.

Bol confirmed it in an interview after Glasgow (I think). Very quick no when asked if she would double in Paris. It makes sense because the relays are important for the Netherlands and doing all of them means running 10x 400m in 9 days.

I know she's not doubling because of the relays. I think it's possible she would just do the flat 400. She's not better than Sydney in either event. If Sydney is not doing the flat 400, I think she could beat Paulino. She will not beat Sydney in the 400 hurdles.

Well to answer this I will correct myself, she was asked about the 400 open specifically and said no. Also found the interview.

Lmao. Sydney is way more exciting than the people you've named. I guess you enjoy watching people lose. You mentioned world records that were set in the doing era, any track fan doesn't regard them as being legit. Sydney will have you crying after the Olympics, probably will have to have someone on watch so you won't harm yourself.

It's interesting that you find Bol interesting to watch but not Sydney when Bol cannot possibly win without beating Sydney. So you in fact ARE interested in watching her.
seems like every olympic year an athlete coming off an exemplary ncaa year surprises to make team (anavia battle last time, who i believe has 0 chance of making it this time). think that is mackenzie long this year. she's been looking phenomenal. and it's been building over the last few years
