Its a crime that Zealand will probably be considered the VA state record holder as well......Pretty sure she NEVER ran for a high school over the 4 years or however long she has been in school. Home schooled and going to Liberty to be coached by her mom.......
Sadie got caught in traffic several times (including at the start). With a cleaner run she would have won. I can't wait to see what she runs in the post season meets (Portland Track Festival, U20 champs, New Balance, Olympic Trials?, etc.). She is super talented and has the competitive instincts to win big races. And she still has another year of HS!

A crime? What's wrong with you.
Why does it matter if she's home schooled and going to be coached by her mom in college? She's a great talent, it isn't like she's 22 or something, she takes classes, tests, and gets grades just like any other HS student in VA.
Separately, while I am not a Liberty fan, it's a University, they teach, as someone in the living in the South I know people who graduated from there and had great careers.
And what's wrong with sticking with family? I generally see it as a positive character trait.
Are you just jealous because she embarrassed your daughter or your runners in many races?

Just a note, another really great looking runner Dale Hall from Hampton Pa. is going to Liberty. I have seen him twice, he is really good and great running style. 1:51.x and 4:06.x 1600.He beat Drew Griffith last year at PIAA meet. Those days are over for a little while anyway lol.
National girls record by Allie Zealand... 4:30.xx 64 second last lap
And now that record goes down!
Lost in all the craziness last night was the fact that two other girls (Bell and Ince) ran 4:35. five girls total under 4:40 and Ellery Lincoln ran the second fastest mile ever run by a freshman at 4:40. Has there ever been a more impressive girls high school mile race?
So many great races by the high schoolers last night. We all talk about the shoes; does anyone have links to some of their training mileage/intensity? For example, Zealand ran a phenomonal race. Home schooled, coached by her mom, is she training three hours a day? Engelhardt is a beast. Very physically mature for a junior in HS and such strength and speed. Griffith looks like an endurance machine with his long drive to the tape. Is he doing 70-80 mpw? Double threshold in HS? Amazing races and that was at a HS track with more enthusiasm and fun than at Eugene.
I'm a little disappointed that no one pointed out that the pro mile women's winner is a 30+ year old former DIII runner. Who I'm guessing is mostly unsponsored. What a badass!

Jenn Randall wins in 4:28.23 while Sadie Engelhardt reclaims her HS national record with a 2nd place 4:28.46.Watch more from the meet: www.runnerspace.comCli...
...and of course, your DFL mascot was sans super shoes. 21 starters, could have been a bloodbath with all those instruments of destruction. One did go down hard at the start.
any know where I can watch a video of the mascot race? I don't see it on the runnerspace youtube channel
