It's crazy how fast highschoolers are running these days. A 9:00 minute 2 mile use to be impressive and only a few did it during the year. How we have a 100+ running 9:00 or better.
I remember when Mike Stember ran 4:04 and it was a huge deal. I ran against the Hausers and thought they were complete studs with their times. Time wise, they'd get mercy ruled these days and Brad Hauser went on to become an NCAA champion. I can't believe how much the shoes have changed the game.
Did you watch the Stember video? It’s probably the craziest negative split ever, and he could easily have broken 4 that day.
I did. He was a great tactical racer and sit and kick type of guy. I went down a black hole the other day and Stember owns his own food company and of course the Hausers are high up in the corporate medical field. Couldn't find much on Gabe Jennings other than he taught in Japan for awhile and got his law degree from Oregon.

Notre Dame is going to be in great shape if they can develop these kids. They have if I'm not mistaken three (3) sub 8:50 kids coming in with two of them being the XC national champion and other the runner-up.
I'm still amazing at how fast kids are running. I went through UF's roster the other day and if you include the kids they have coming in next year, they have 20 sub 9:20 hs kids on their roster. That's not including their stud middle distance guy from India. If they don't start making NCAA's consistently, something has to be questioned with their coaching. They are getting a lot of of their 800 meter runners with 7-8 at 1:48 or better, but nothing at the long distance events. I can't even remember the last sub 14 kid they had.
I've been following southern section all year since cross country when Fast Horse, Perez, and Noonan were posting fast 3 mile times. The fact 5 kids ran 4:08 or faster from just 1 division in a section with 4 divisions is ridiculous (D2 Southern Section). My guess is in the right race Parra, Perez, and Noonan can break 8:40. Idk why there isn't some type of distance classic or something after states for California since it seems so many of the athletes from Cali don't run Nationals.
he closed in 57.1. I like Noonan sit and sick strategy because it suits him very well. I don't think other runners should be trying to compete against noonan in something he is naturally better at.
I didn't watch the 1600 but from what people are saying on here is that it was tactical. I heard ben bouie could have run like 4:03 and dropped everyone but he played tactical which was mistake
The splits for the race are available on line, idiot.

SS needs to be split into 3rds anyway and I will not rest until it happens
