ALL SPORTS get better with time. The best Football teams of the 50s wouldn't score a single touchdown against the current playoff teams, every single player would be happy to get off the field in one piece after the first quarter. Same with hockey. Same with basketball. Same with baseball.
Why would the amateurs of T&A in the 50s stack up against todays professionals any better?
A woman is now as fast as the great Emil Zatopek. A ridiculous sport. And when the record is set by a runner from the worst doping nation in the sport that seals it.
Ah yes, women! Those inferior beings that shouldn't be able to run as fast as Emil did. Emil, who ran on cinder tracks, in primitive shoes, who was a pioneer in experimenting with interval training.
How dare modern women run as fast as Emil? They should be slow in order to appease Mr. Livs!
He was the top distance runner of his era, who trained harder than any woman can today. That you think this is all a natural progression in the sport shows how deluded you fans are. The biggest progression in the sport is what athletes put in their bodies.

High School runners are now faster than Emil Zatopek. His 5000 PR was 13:57. Does that mean they are doping?

Bruh, shoes are to blame more than anything. Guaranteed whatever PEDs are out there have been around for some time. Athletes aren’t using anything now that they weren’t already using 5 or 10 years ago. For a sub 30:00 10k runner I’d say shoes are worth, at least, 30 seconds. Shoe defenders will kick and scream but it’s the truth.
How would you know that? Shoes are worth a lot, but you are nuts if you think innovation in PEDs has slowed down.

Did you enjoy the meeting? Chebet definitely can run faster, orhers will come and run faster than Chebet. Women are still far from the ultimate in many events.
WRs set this year:
Men
PV, DT, 2 Miles(i)
Women
10000m, 400m(i)x2,
Many more will come the next years, also the women's 400m and 800m. You will enjoy it.
Zatopek's PRs were 13:57 and 28:54, both WRs at the time. Just over a decade later Ron Clarke held the WRs of 13:16 and 27:39. He even took 35 seconds off the 10000 WR in one race.
I wonder what kind of PEDs runners were using then to achieve such improvement in a relatively short time. Or maybe it was the shoes?

I have not said there will be no progress in sports; there will be. But it goes beyond "progress" to see women running faster than great male athletes of the past who were legends of the sport. Anyone who understands differences between male and female physiology will understand that. It is one of the arguments today against intersex and trans athletes competing in women's events.

I am a fan of Emil. My favorite runner, ever. Any other stupid thing you want to throw at me? Or would you like to try and give an intelligent reply to the facts I presented?

Nurmi was a legend of the sport as well. He ran 14:28 and 30:06. Are we prepared to say that any woman who surpasses his times from 100 years ago is doping? Is there a time cutoff where we can say without doubt (and tangible evidence) that an athlete is doping, regardless of all other factors (shoes, training, etc.)?

Do you enjoy doped sport?
lets say it's a doped sport. If everyone dopes, then that's effectively a level-playing field. Why shouldn't we enjoy it?

When was Tergat popped? Or Kipchoge? Or Lorupe? Or Korir?
Ohhhh!!! In your wet dreams! That's right
You are a joke.
None of those got popped. But, Olympic champions did (Sumgong + Kiprop), and world record holders (Kipsang, Kiptum, Kipruto) and lots of major marathon winners (Boston, London). Remember that only a small fraction of dopers ever get caught.
I don’t consider her comparable to a Tigst Assefa situation - where a runner, seemingly out of nowhere, breaks an already-insane world record by an even insaner margin.
She has been consistently fast ever since she was young, and the 10,000m was already paced for a WR by the 5000m record holder. How often would that happen? It hasn’t in my lifetime.
I’m not saying she’s absolutely clean, mind you, just that she didn’t come out of nowhere and the time isn’t insane. If you add in Tsegay, Gidet, and Hassan, you have 4 women RIGHT NOW who could continue to break that record this year alone.

He didn't have access to the pharmacy that is professional sport today.
38 years ago, Ingrid Kristainsen from Norway has run 30:13.74. Since this, just four Europeans/Americans have run faster (none sub 30). One reason why the East African times look so outstanding, is the low level we have in Europe/USA.
