Nuguse is an amazing talent but he clearly lacks killer instinct. I don’t think that is something that can be developed either. It won’t surprise me if he misses a lot of podiums over the years. Hope I’m wrong.
Tired of people calling a 3:43 miler, NCAA Champion, US Champion, American record holder, World Indoor Silver Medalist soft. He's a gamer and only loses to really good competitors.
This is not me hating, just an observation though I’ll likely be attacked for making it.
These guys seem far off their 2023 form. Maybe it’s to peak later (hopefully!) or maybe it’s due to an error in training/over training in previous seasons.
-Nuguse hasn’t looked right all year to my eye. He’s still going to make the U.S. team and OF, but I’m predicting a Hocker win at the OT and am not expecting him to compete for a medal like we all hoped
-Hoare ended last season with an injury and picked up another this winter. Playing catch up
-Garcia Romo has not run well all year. Way off.
-Klecker seems like he might be fried. Likely won’t make team
-Monson is hurt
-Cannot comment on Hurta as I don’t follow that event
I will admit McDonald is finally healthy and set a nice PB over the weekend but has yet to make the competitive leap after college, likely due to repeated injury. He was unbeatable in college and had Fisher’s number.
The big exception is Beamish who seems to be racing super well and could sneak in for a medal this summer. Excited to see him race at Pre.
Seem to have forgotten about Obiri, who has 3 major marathon wins in a row. Just saying.
If anything, the struggle gives me more faith that they are relatively clean. Nothing is more suspicious than an athlete continuously improving with no stagnation or down periods for years and years in a row.
Does this mean that Ritz's team is not hanging around the burrito truck?

1. That's for getting your lack of credibility out of the way right off the bat so we could save ourselves some time.
2. Not every member of every team or every athlete under a coach can always be successful. if he has a single Olympic medalist that would put this team and coach in the extreme minority of success compared to all other teams and coaches, and yet it's almost like you have your post ready for Paris when it's not a mens/women's 6 gold performance.
Morgan McBeard McDonald would have broken 13 minutes in the 5K Friday without the extra wind resistance and weight of his mountain man beard and longish untamed hair.
Mcdonald slipped on ice and fractured his knee last year.
Coach should of been up early with salt and ice pick; had athlete in spikes.
He slipped on the ice, stepping out of a car from the second row, arriving for a long run in January. Not sure how spikes would be appropriate here. Not sure how practical it would be to salt 10 miles worth of gravel, high-altitude roads? But by all means, keep the advice coming about how much better you would do it.
While you are at it, have there been periods where you "of been" up early to do these kind of things? JFC, next time you want to be a critic, come correct.

nah dude they always say Ritz is super dedicated, but if you're not even dedicated enough to get out a bit early and get rid of all the ice out there, you probably shouldnt be coaching

Ritz might have his first Oly gold athlete in Hellen this summer in Paris. She's beaten Beriso & Kosgei. Jepchirchir beating Asefa in London makes me think Hellen could handle her as well. Would love to see her run something crazy fast in Valencia after Paris. She's probably got a 2:12 in her even with that wild arm swing
The only thing im worried about is how jealous they were of kessler's training while he was on the podcast. They definitely dont seems to enjoy the endless intervals on the track. Enjoying your training is SUPER important lol. Like dang guys go do some easy doubles and hills workouts then if you so desire.
I highly doubt they were being genuine. I’m sure they do enjoy their training and they obviously trust Ritz. It just seemed like they were having a laugh with Kessler.
