It's the in-out-in nonsense that's infuriating. I can actually understand she would not want to open her season against Moraa & Paulino in the 400m - why risk a loss on home ground, especially when she has to race Moraa in two weeks over 800m? - but it's the palaver around "is she or isn't she?" that's the most annoying.
SML & Athing should NOT be used for any promotional material. It's completely misleading to fans when they appear to be racing and then don't.
The fact that Sydney has already raced a 200m, so there is some proven intent to better her PB at that distance, and is still on the start lists here, is promising. I did think she may drop out when Thomas and then Adeleke were added to the lists. But her task is made a bit easier as Thomas will already have run the 100m less than an hour before. I don't think she would want to lose to her. But Adeleke will prove troublesome. Will she warm up then DNS on the day? I don't know, I feel even though this is under distance, Kersee will only line her up if she has a chance of winning...maybe she'll drop a huge PB?
We've absolutely no idea what form Mu is in, but with both Moraa and Paulino having already raced over the distance a couple of times already this season, I don't see her beating them.
Does Kersee really want both of his stars losing here?
I wonder if it is not about Mu repeatedly changing her mind, but her agents or coaches. I can’t imagine an athlete would go back and forth that many times in the course of 24 hours.
Regardless of her success, she barely , if...competes in this sport. It's a joke and I could care less about any success she has, in fact it's easier to root against her now.
Her aversion for racing is taking the ability of a regular track fan to root for her to new levels.
We all know why athletes like her and Sydney don't race. Nobody has come up with a reasonable enough justification for what we've seen, except that the coach is a "magician".

Hold that thought, she might be back in in the next 30 minutes.
Syd got a lot of criticism last week for not publicizing her appearance at Oxy but it was the smart move. Mu opening her season against a world class field is a poor strategy from her team, I agree this was always going to happen

Something still doesn't make sense. If Kersee didn't want Mu running against a top 400 field, then he could have switched her to another event, like what Sydney did. So something else is going on.
Why would they dope? There is no reason to dope if they don't ever race...
POTD. I laughed so hard when I saw this. But seriously wouldn't that work to get tested less? Femke races so much she basically gets tested every week. But Sydney never races so she gets tested a lot less.
As much as I'd like Mu and SML to thrive, their presence is being shadowed with suspicion. Now you add in who their coach/associate is and given that history, plus the dodging of competitons, only escalates the ssuspicion. Mu's comment last year that she may quit track and become a model (there's different standards for models these days) is certainly puzzling to start but should also be viewed with heightened suspicion. Perhaps she was under duress from the testing/testers in some regard. I hope she's clean and authentic, but willfully associating with that coach and group is unfortunately not a compelling starting point.
This is the first post of yours I think I've ever liked. Congratulations on saying something that doesn't get down voted by everyone.

That's not how testing works. You don't get tested every race. And some runners who race very little still get tested 10 times per year or more.
This whole idea that some people have that a runner will rarely get tested if they rarely race isn't true.
Perhaps she was under duress from the testing/testers in some regard.
Do you people just like inventing conspiracy theories and narratives? Her interest in fashion is long documented, and considering she's been training and competing at the highest level since 14 (didn't even compete for her HS but straight to training alone and competing in AAU), is it really that big of a surprise that she's slightly over it by now? Just because she's a generational talent doesn't mean she has to love the sport more than anything.
These athletes are micro dosing. The coach has a well thought out plan, when they’re not sure if they will pass the potential meet day test they pull out of the competition. Maybe they self test the week before and if they pass then they proceed to compete if they fail they consider withdrawing. I think adding back into the meet after withdrawing could be from them testing again and it coming out clean so they ask to get put back in.

You say no-one has come up with a reasonable enough justification. Yet, I ask again, why is doping somehow a reasonable explanation? Why would a coach with that much experience be doping Athing Mu just to get worse results? You need to wait until she actually does something spectacular that she didn't already do before joining Kersee to make that conclusion.
She's told us to our faces that she prefers other things to track, it's not her fault if you don't want to believe that.
Hold that thought, she might be back in in the next 30 minutes.

Is it honestly so hard to believe that either Mu didn't feel ready/want to race or Bobby didn't think she was in good enough shape yet? Seems a lot simpler than "her microdose wasn't clear yet" when she can just get tested OOC anyways and probably does more than most athletes. Even if she was actually doping she'd be able to find her way into this race and not test positive anyway, Bobby isn't stupid, neither is Nike.

That wouldn't explain dropping out on Wednesday, entering again on Thursday, and then dropping out on Friday.
There was some kind of disagreement between Athing Mu and Bobby Kersee that was more than "she wasn't in good enough shape."
