We prefer to have 1 thread per subject matter and have merged three threads into 1. The 2nd thread was entitled, "Why does Jakob talk so much trash?" The third thread was titled, "New Jakob Interview: Olympics should be “a walk in the park”, calls some competitors “a**holes and idiots”:
He seems to be constantly trying to lash out at his "haters" despite the fact that he doesn't really seem to have any significant number of haters. He's basically hyper-defensive about criticism that doesn't even exist.
I too would have been the best in the world if I didn’t get injured. I would have trained 3X per day…
That’s the whole point, injuries limit the training…. With this statement, I am now 99% sure that he will claim injury/sickness at the Olympics. He just lost.

Constantly lashing out? Lol please show the times where he has “lashed out” and explain them. He received quite a bit of hate from people this past year after Budapest when Kerr beat him, including Kerr himself. It’s fairly logical to respond to this hate.
He has 1 Olympic gold. Do you know how many other olympians there are with gold medals?
Michael Phelps has 23 Olympic golds and 25 world titles. You didn’t see him yapping his mouth off all day about other competitors or how easy his competitions were going to be.

Not sure which of my posts you are responding to, but it seems like none since you did not counter any of points.
This is badass when you dominate every single championship and you are the favorite, but I think there’s a chance Jakob doesn’t even medal so it’s just childish arrogance to me
It’s a joke. He obviously knows it’s not easy to win the olympics, but he is the clear best when he outruns everybody all year.
He sounds like such a fool here. Almost no Olympic title is a walk in the park and the comments about injury and illness just seem to be setting up excuses in advance.
I think it's safe to become somewhat more wary about his chances with this attitude. Whatever anyone says about Kerr his comments were never as absurd as this.
I guess you don't really watch other sports, do you? You'd never catch champs in other sports like LeBron James, Steph Curry, Georges St Pierre, Tadej Pogacar, Jonas Vingegaard, Kristian Blummenfelt, Michael Phelps, Shohei Ohtani, Tom Brady, etc. say that winning a championship or olympic gold would be a "walk in the park".
Maybe Floyd Mayweather might say something like that but he's also 50-0 in a career spanning 2+ decades. Meanwhile, Jakob has been beaten 3 times in just the past year.
Also his comment on his win being a “walk in the park” was obviously a joke. He literally started laughing after saying that because obviously he knows it is not easy.
Nice cope, bro. Did you even listen to the interview? He doesn’t laugh at all after saying that. He was dead serious. See 13:24 :
Norwegian track sensation Jakob Ingebrigtsen has a love affair with the European Championships. It was six years ago in Berlin when he annoucned himself to the world when, aged just 17, he shocked the field to take 1500m and...
It's delusional to think Jakob could run all the world records from 1500 - marathon. He's a 1500 - 5k guy, and I think he can get close to any of those world records, and especially the 3000, but 1 second is a big gap at that level, and I just don't know if he has the 800 speed to run 3:25 for 1500.
According to world athletics points, his 2000m record is his strongest performance, followed closely by the 2 mile.
And just because he beats runners with faster 5000 prs in tactical races, it does not mean he will be able to run faster then them in a time trial like race with pacers, despite that being the opinion of many letsrunners.
And it's hilarious to think he will be a world beater in the 10k or anything above. He's just too tall to compete with short east africans that do long runs and long tempos, as opposed to Jakob's 20k long run and double threshold.

The fact that you compared swimming to running says it all. You really think someone is going to get to 20 olympic golds in athletics? Especially in distance running? Wow, you are delusional.
I'm the biggest Jakob's fanboy you will ever see. I genuinely believe he has a shot at taking all the WRs from the mile (but not the 1500) to 10k, and could be a Mo Farah+, but I'm calling that BS. And he's just saying that to save face in case he loses, which is likely unless someone like Tim in Tokyo comes along)

I actually agree. Three months out he's already "playing it safe".

Yeah, a minute earlier he says “I won the last olympics, I don’t know what the fuss is about” But your short attention span could not get that either. Can’t believe I’m responding to morons.
That is not trashtalking, he didn’t talk down on anybody. At the same time though, that was very clearly a joke. In the same spirit, he said a minute earlier in that podcast “I won the last olympics, I don’t know what the fuss is about” laughing afterwards. He knows it’s hard, but he still has the confidence and belief he can win.
