This "enhanced games" BS is honestly going to go down as one of the most comically embarrassing wastes of time and money in modern society - and this is if it even happens. What a joke.
My feeling is that it won't happen at all...BUT, if it does take place...and IF events like track & field and swimming are run the SAME as they are in official competition - except for doping being allowed....it would only take one world record or exceptional performance...to suddenly become interesting...because that might point to past and current doping in official events, not being quite as full-on as most of us suspect. - but I think that's unlikely. - especially as competitors will no doubt be retired or B-grade.
I just read that Ted Turner is creating 'The Badwill Games', to be held in early 2025 in Soviet-Ukraine, as an answer to The Enhanced Games. The track will be down-hill. Crocodiles in the water-jump. All commentators will be banned trans-athletes. The marathon will be held in the shot put circle. King Carl will be on hand to sing ALL national anthems (for those who finish last). Instead of weather forecasts, Noah Lyles will make endless predictions. ...and Alberto Salazar will be doing the catering.
You can purchase a pre-owned Yohan Blake watch for only $325,000 (or Best Offer) on EBay. If Yohan ever needs some $$$ he can sell one of his for a lower price like $200,000 or perhaps since it would be his personal watch for a much higher amount (and he would sell it at a Christie's or Sotheby's auction not on EBay.)
Limited edition Richard Mille. Not very many out there as only 100 were made. This Yohan Blake is in néw excellent condition. Face to face deal also available at our location.
“We’ve had 4,000 athletes come to us directly, and expect 10,000 athletes to apply when applications open for the Enhanced Games later this year,” says D’Souza. “Four of the 10 fastest 100m sprinters in history have approached me. If you’re sitting there waiting out a doping sentence, why not do it?”
Ok. Which 4?

If Peter Thiel has 'approached' 4 of the 10 fastest sprinters ever...he must be fairly fast himself right ? ...probably from putting all that distance between himself and Elon Musk. Peter probably has super-sonic under-wear as well...considering Elon's pregnancy stats.

Here is the inherent issue with all of this - especially from a track and field side and let's just use the 100m as an example.
I feel like there is this idea that you can just pull an average talent (let's say a 10.0 runner) and feed them up with whatever they want and we will see some half second improvement that crushes the WR. It doesn't work this way. Let's be honest here, when we look at the 5 fastest men in history, all but one of them have one thing in common (exactly what was pointed out by Lyles recently). For me personally I have a hard time believing that the only one not involved was the guy who was the best by over a tenth of a second and I don't - I believe Bolt doped too.
But these guys were still the best sprint talent we have seen walk this planet. Marcel Jacobs is an example of what taking an average talent (a 10.0 runner) and doping them can do - it got him to 9.80 and an Olympic title - but 9.80 isn't in the 9.6's and certainly not in the 9.5's
This doesn't work if it's someone out there running 9.80 or even 9.75. It only works if it's someone running under 9.58 but you need to be a 9.75 guy CLEAN to do that. Now the issue becomes clear - we only have a handful of guys who are even candidates to do this now and that's assuming they aren't cheating already (Omanyala at 9.76 anyone? really?) And how much money does this guy want to really risk in terms of guaranteed money to get even a handful of these guys to do this? Because if I am already running 9.80 on the juice and only get paid if I can find another two tenths of a second and the only extra benefit I have is the freedom to experiment with a bunch of sh-t I don't even know will really help me or not, that is not enough incentive for me to basically abandon my lifestyle of somewhat constant income flow, travelling around the world running races 5 months of the year etc etc.
