The Roche's have become clowns, who get through life by making poo jokes and overall acting like children. With their academic credentials, you'd expect a lot more than what you get with them. They are however, quite popular and coach a ton of people in the trail world. I don't know that they have ever 'found' or truly cultivated any unknown talent. They've mostly taken people who were already fast and helped them maintain. On a side note, David is among the worst writers known to man.

Agreed. A family member bought me Happy Runner as a gift and it was absolute garbage! The worst running book I have ever tried to read. However, I could see it appealing to new runners who don’t know better and maybe that is the point ($$$).

Complete bs. Cat Bradley, Claire Gallagher Western States champions. Chris Myers just got a golden ticket in the most competitive North American race. You can go on from there as well. And duh nobody in running whether on the trail or roads goes from slow to a champion at these races. You have to be incredibly genetically gifted in ultra running now to compete at races like black canyon and western states.

They are charlatans who spew out generic plans that you could find in a runners world training plan online and people pay hundreds of dollars a month to say they have a “pro” coach. I guess good for them for taking advantage of morons? But they have no idea what truly competitive running and training looks like.

I'm genuinely curious about their training plans and coaching. Do you know this first hand? If no, why are you saying what you are saying? Their faster athletes seem to be running great, so they have to be doing something right.
I listen to their podcast and sometimes I have to wait a long time until they get down to talking about training theory and new science on various topics. I usually get something out of that portion of the podcast.
she posted something on her instagram a few days ago about getting injured right before a big race so I'm assuming she won't be lining up at world cross. shame I was/am definitely rooting for a comeback, especially as Coburn/frerichs stranglehold on the steeple is fading
LOL, Allie O will never be competitive in the steeple again.
The problem is US women's T&F have moved up a couple of notches since she peaked in college. She is now at sub elite level because there are so many who can run well under 16 for 5000.

I can't speak on the others but Chris is exactly what the above poster stated. He already had won a bunch of local races and had Top 5 finishes in competitive races such as Way Too Cool before you started coaching him.

They go too hard on intensity generally as David and Meghan both have never actually run 100 mile ultra races themselves.
They get a lot of super talented runners that are already quite good. What you don't hear about is all the runners they have injured over the years.
Also for coaching it is easy to write a template of generic workout schedules and then just assign them to dozens and dozens of athletes all at once. To call that "individual" or "personalized" coaching is quite a disservice to the community and is misleading imo. But that's how you "coach" 100 + people.

Last time I checked, you could see a training calendar on their website (I assume it was a model/example, but you'll get the idea).
Yes, I read those and I believe those are for the general population and not just samples. I figured their 1:1 coaching would include more individualization.

Honestly I can deal with the relentless positivity, the generic plans and poo jokes. The thing that really made me look at them in a new light was when they Lia Thomas won all those female swimming competitions, and the Roches came out with a post about how great it was, a step forward for womens sports and that Lia Thomas had no biological advantage (I think based off of some very bad scientific articles) and I couldnt deal with that. Like sure this dude can come in and wipe all the womens records, and have no advantage. Its crazy to me, especially since there is a Dr in the pair, that they said (and probably believed it) this nonsense. Like what message are you sending to your female athletes you are coaching, "we love you guys because you pay us money, but if some failed male althete wants to he can come in an steal everything youve worked so hard for and we will celebrate and support him in doing so". Truly boggles the mind

They are wealthy woke liberals in Boulder that like to also be in places like Palo Alto and Aspen from time to time. So what do you expect?
The worst part of that is when David insisted that "The Science proves" that "trans Women are Women" and that there is "no advantage". Then again he's educated as a lawyer. Dr. Meghan should know better though. They're probably working on chronically injuring more people with their generic training (errr "personal coaching").
I dont know what I expected, maybe some honesty, integrity, truthfulness? Hell Id even settle for giving a continental s**t about your women athletes, who have been working so hard.
I dont think it takes a Dr to know that bio men have an advantage over females in the realm of swimming, but maybe the fancy degrees from prestigious universities don't teach that, or it was an attempt to fit into the current narrative and get extra clients.

They could be afraid of being canceled and losing social clout even if they privately believe that it's unfair to women!
