Remember Mike Tyson's voice? Naturally high testosterone sometimes causes the voice to be like that. They should have a kid together and create the ultimate crossover athlete!
He didn't say she looked like a child - and that he liked that. What a ridiculous and misplaced overreaction.
I went back and read the posts from both posters. "yourkiddingright1" insinuated that Bol looks like a boy and "she is gorgeous" liked that. "yourkiddingright" deserved the reaction.
Mclaughlin looks exactly like her brother. It sort of makes me uncomfortable.
Siblings that look alike make you uncomfortable? Are you serious? Would be frightened to see you interact around any family anywhere.
Anyways, another letsrun thread that devolves into discussing the attractiveness of female athletes. It's like a tick posters around here can't control.
A bunch of men talking about female attributes: sound of her voice (whether she's appropriately female), the quality of her voice (whether she's acceptably female), her looks, and so on. Less ink spilled on her performances. Not very original.
"Fans were left wondering if Mickey Mouse had smashed a world record after hearing star athlete Femke Bol's post-race interview, after she stormed to gold in the 400 m, setting a new world best of 49.17 seconds in the process"
On a pretty fundamental level, European women are more likely to speak in their naturally higher voice registers than US women due to the tendency of US women to feel they need to deepen their voices to gain respect in business contexts and whatnot (ex: guys hating on female announcers bc their voices are "shrill"). Any higher level discussion about gender standards across various cultures and whatnot is probably not gonna go great in a letsrun forum lol
What a childishly stupid thing to be concerned with. It's like there are a bunch of immature for their age middle schoolers mocking someone who is successful.
Honestly, mocking someone, especially for something they have no control over, is sadly childish and speaks to some kind of serious low self esteem as an adult.
If her voice is what people want to comment on, then they are not track fans. There is too much to like.
Did anyone see the slow mo replay of her final 50? I thought it was after the finish line she looked like she was jogging, so relaxed.

"Boyish" is not like a child. It has often been used to describe some women (like the use of "girlish"). Your reaction - wrong reaction - is based on a failure to understand basic English and is ridiculous.
Ive listened to many interviews with her. Normally her voice is not that high pitched, I think she was just winded after running the 400m. Usually her voice is high pitched but slightly deeper than in this particular recording.
Happy to be corrected! I would imagine part of it is due to the baseline pitch for the native languages, and then how that translates to them speaking english as well. I think the person from early who said she was gassed probably had a good point as well.

Her typical voice is much deeper than that.
I can't believe this remains a topic. Bol has appeared in virtually every Diamond League press conference since she became prominent in 2021. She typically receives the most questions on the panel. Her normal voice is front and center in those pressers yet track fans are bewildered when she is interviewed soon after a race. You would think the situational influence would become a tad obvious.
If you want a Femke Bol topic regarding her speaking, it should be a drinking game every time she says something is "very nice" during those pressers.
Twitter is only about getting the most attention, likes, views. They'll denigrate a beautiful, powerful person like Bol if they can grab those views under the invisible shield of the internet. These guys would have no balls to say "you sound like Mikey mouse" to her face.

Then why is it OK for women to mock a man for having a small penis?
