Mo Farah's bell laps in 5k and 10k races were typically 3-4 seconds faster than Ingy's fastest open 400 ability, so yes, he could've maybe won this race too.
I cannot understand for the life of me why these boards seem incapable of giving Kerr his due. The man could cure cancer and half of LetsRun would still be calling foul.
I never understand it when people say "Well if _____ was in the race it would've been different". Girma and Aregwai weren't in the race. Stop making up false narratives.
I like Nuguse and root for him more than a lot of guys. But I can't figure out why WA let him in this race. What was the qualifying time and when did he run it?
Some of y'all need to calm down and get some perspective. Nuguse is barely more than halfway through his 2nd year as a pro and he's won his first major medal. He's already a 3:43 miler and beat the world champ in a Diamond league race. He has plenty of potential to be the best miler/middle distance runner in the world one day and get perhaps get some world records. People forget Kerr turned pro in 2018. He didn't get his first medal til 2021. Most pros would dream of Nuguse's improvement rate so far. He's only going to get better, assuming he stays fairly healthy. He's already one of the best talents in the world in ONLY again his 2nd year. He's going to be great.
Nuguse is going to become very dangerous when the full realization that he is the 4th faster miler of all time (and, other than JI, nobody currently running is within 2 seconds of him) hits him. He shouldn't be hanging off the front pack hoping for a chance to win or for a medal, he should be dominating.
Now, of course, perhaps Kerr pops sub 3:45 or sub 3:28 and shows that he's actually that talented (I think he really is and the 2 mile WR is great evidence). But right now he looks like he is just a superior tactician and racer and is cleaning up on guys who are a bit more talented than him.
When you look back in history at who is in Nuguse's category by times, these are all time legends. Nobody runs that fast without being a shoe-in medalist and WR setter.
I think Kerr is going to end up in this category with Ingebrigtsen, and that Nuguse is already there. Nuguse just needs to understand in his mind that he's an all time great and not just a current medal hopeful, and then race like it. Kerr will probably cement himself into this club by the time this season is over, he's already racing like it. It will be interesting to see if Hocker can make another step forward and join them.
And Ritz is too easy on these guys for tactics. I mean you have Georgie doing whatever he wants on the last lap and Jared has no clue what to do so who’s coaching who in this OAC group? The only one that follows direction is Ollie.

7:28 last indoor season.
Oh, that counts? Cool. I didn't realize the qualifying window was that long. I suspect the downvoters thought I was saying, "This guy is a joke! I could beat him!" Not the case. In fact, I was saying, "I don't know of a 3k he has run since the indoor season started."
This post will, of course, get even more downvotes since those of you who suspect I think he sucks will now be certain. I'm a pretty big fan, but that is how this will be read. Oh well....
Props to Kerr. He looks great. Nuguse got outraced.
If anything that close gets me more excited about Nuguse medal potential outdoors. Heck of a close. Came up short, but better tactics won't earn you that much space on a 400m track.

Pure butthurtness from Jakob fanboys. Kerr is on another level right now and is walking the talk. He gets to extend his trash talking while Jakob, having stayed home, gets to be even more nervous and less in control of the situation. I can see Josh sniping a WR just before the Olympics this summer and Jakob is not going to be able to handle him. I mean seriously, how does anyone see Jakob as favorite in the 1500?
