One must say though that Kessler is a notch less talented than "the rest of Jakobs".
Here's the order of talent from my point of view:
1) Jakob at 17yo - 3:31.18
2) Laros at 18yo - 3:31.25
3) Myers at 17yo - 3:33.26
4) Kessler at 18yo - 3:34.36
*Reynold Kipkorir Cheruiyot at 18yo - 3:30.30
Myers is still 17 untill June, so he has a chance to even best Jakob.
I disagree. Kessler was a world class rock climber when he was in HS. He didn't start running seriously until he was 16. Jakob had been running seriously since he was like 10. I remember when Kessler ran 3:57i, and no one had heard of him because his PR had been 4:18.
Kessler just ran 3:48i at age 20. Only Nuguse, El G, and Kejelcha are faster. I'm still banking on Kessler being the most talented of the "Jakob clones". Plus his form is the best in the game.
Wow! Flashback to 17 year-old Jakob winning at Stanford's Payton Jordan meet in 2018 over defending Olympic champ Centro! Jakob's winning time was slower but the last lap was almost identical.

Yeah, decent money and travel. I think he could have been dangerous in Glasgow. Without most of the natural front runners, I think we could see a slow-ish final, maybe a 3:35 winning time. That could put Wightman in the mix
I just can’t really see it even in a “slow” race. He’s not producing a huge kick in a 3:33-4 race. I get that he had a nice last lap vs Hobbs but falling off the lead wasn't a good thing so running a 26 is less impressive if you don’t run the penultimate one hard. I don’t see him being able to hang with more than 1-2 of Hocker, Nader, Tefera, Mehary, Habz, Keter and Reynold right at this juncture.
He said he made a tactical error in the race with Kessler to let the gap get that big. Maybe that was him trying to save face, who knows? I'd have given him an outside chance against the field in a 3:35 race, especially in front of a home crowd which does matter.
But it looks like he's going back to strength work ahead of the outdoor season now. He's running a 5k on the roads in mid-March against a decent field that includes Axel Veng Christensen, Alex Yee, James West, and Nick Griggs.

Definitely trying to save face. Sure the move caught him by surprise but my sense watching was he didn’t really misjudge that race at all. If he goes earlier, we get what happened in the last 2 races where he’s gassed by the last 50 or so. Can’t see that guy winning against sharp, near-fully fit guys. But I think he should be good to go in a few months if he stays healthy.

How many of them were rock climbing at the same time
Not sure why this got some downvotes. The fact that Kessler only starting training at a high level over COVID and ran 3:34 in only his second season doing so does actually matter. Not enough to put him above the others necessarily, but enough that his 18yo "training age" is more like the 16-17yo training age of the others (with Jakob having the oldest "training age" of the group).

Kessler's freshman year prs were... 2:25/4:54/10:33, sophomore year was 2:06/4:25/9:51. Senior year he ran 3:34/8:39. Absurd progression.
I don't know about Myers' progression, or Laros tbf. Did they go from 4:10 prs to 3:33 prs in a year?
Pace making was good. Jake took up the running from 800 but Cam looked so in control. Jake tried to come back but didn't have the finishing speed, last 400m in 56.73.
Jake said on one his YouTube videos that he knows he'll get the standard during the European outdoor season so I'm not quite sure why he's chasing it so hard now other than to let him pick an easier schedule leading up to British Champs and Paris.
It's probably because he's a competitor and he's frustrated after a year of injury so he's maybe pushing a bit more than he should. His plan was always NBIGP and then Maurie Plant. The race last night was a late decision and maybe not a great decision but he was in Australia anyway and 3:34 is fine if not spectacular. I do wonder now if he's regretting skipping Glasgow
There are probably more than one bowerman athlete that would tell you to not “waste” fitness. Take advantage whilst you’re able.

Don't know why you are getting so many downvotes. I don't know about Myers and Laros, but between Jakob and Hobbs, their training ages were hugely different at those ages, so it's not a fair comparison for talent.
Kessler ran 3:34 at 18yo which shows great talent. Not as impressive were the following years: 3:36 at 19yo, 3:32 at 20yo and finally now 3:33 at almost 21.
Myers ran 3:33 a month after turning 17. Laros ran 3:31 at 18yo. Insane levels to keep up with.
There could definitely be 2 olympic spots open on the Australian 1500 team if Ollie isn't fit coming back from Injury - I think Stewy has/will secure one of them but we could see a team of Hunt/Myers/Stewy depending on what happens at the trials.

Kessler did run a 3:48.66 mile which converts to 3:31.77 for the 1500. This is also early days as far as this season.
My God! 3:33 in that little boy body? This kid is truly just getting started.
He looks physically just like me at the same age, when I was running 65 miles a week in base for 4:41/9:58. He probably jogs right past the weight room.
These phenoms are fulfilling the promise of freakishly ahead of his time Jim Ryun in 1965.
I believe we are supposed to say that he DESTROYED Wightman.
Not only that, he had his own tactic used against him. He was in Jakob’s place and Myers used the last 300 to pass him at the end. Nothing to worry for Wightman though. He has started out much better than I expected him after injury. He’ll be ready this summer

Ollie, Stewy, Myers, Spencer, Edwards, Hunt, Anstey all in the mix.
6 months from Paris, I'm sure Wightman would've loved to have the qualifier as insurance, otherwise he's perfectly positioned.

You are getting into development now. And curious you'd point out 20 and "almost 21" 🤷. Especially when he's run a winter 3:48 (=3:31), one of the top 5 ALL TIME at 20. Other than Jakob, we haven't seen the top end yet. I was just supporting Peach Pit's point that those comparisons by no deal due to Jakob training like a pro since 12 and Hobbs not anywhere near that when he hit 3:34. Not sure how you can really say based on age 17/18 times whether Jakob or Hobbs is more talented.
