No Elise Cranny or Karissa Schweizer. I can't imagine that they are high up in the world ranking to qualify for the Olympics if they make the top 3 at the trials. Anyone know what is their moving forward in the spring?
Henes would be a favorite to get the standard but she is recovering from a partial lung collapse and surgery 4 months ago. She is on the road to recovery though, so hope she runs well here.
Seeing Megan Keith and Everlyn Kemboi in the field is pretty intriguing.
Also, I'm surprised that she need surgery unless it has been a recurring problem. It was a lung bleb, right? A chest tube will normally take care of that. If she did have a pleural resection, I am assuming that the "lung collapse" was done intentionally via a double-lumen endotracheal tube in order to allow for the procedure. Regardless, I'm glad she's on the way back.
In the Citius interview she said something about 3 insertions for the procedure.

Yes ot was a bleb. She details it on IG. Her lung had 20% collapse on its own, surgery came later:

I am sorry to see that Nico hasn't yet targeted a sea level mile shot at the college record this year. Why not? NAU could simultaneously have the CR at mile, 3k, and 5k if he did, assuming that Bosley's 3k record doesn't go before then.
This meet is the one most US pros are targeting to get their Olympic standard in the 10,000. The standards are 27:00 for the men and 30:40 for the women, and right now Alicia Monson is the only American athlete of either sex who has run the time during the qualification window. She is also running The TEN and will be trying to become the first US woman sub-30:00.
All three 2021 US men's Olympians -- Grant Fisher, Woody Kincaid, Joe Klecker -- are running, as are Moh Ahmed, Nico Young, Jack Rayner, Charles Hicks, and many more.
On the women's side, Monson, Elly Henes, Emily Infeld, Tsigie Gebreselama (30:04 pb, 2023 World XC silver), and Weini Kelati are running. Keira D'Amato and Sara Hall are also entered, trying to bounce back after the Olympic Marathon Trials.
Simon Sundström and Mohamadreza Abootorabi are Swedes like Andreas Almgren. I don't think they will be targeting sub 27, but the Swedish track record is only 27:54 (though Almgren's road record is 27:22) so I gotta wonder if they're targeting 27:53 should Almgren blow up. Sundström might be good for it, no all out or paced 10000 in his history as far as I know, his PB is most likely from a tactical sit and kick, primarily a 3000 Hurdler so far if you check stats from Budapest. Abootorabi is a 10000 and Half Marathon guy (as far as I know) so his PB is probably more legit.

Will there be a second wave light for 28:00?
Never mind - I understand now that there are TWO heats, with Sundström and Abootorabi in the first - so there might a Swedish record for the distance twice before the night is over. :-)
