Yesterday I watched for the first time the full race of this final and it convinced me more than anything else that the final 1500m Paris 2024 will be unpredictable. I can't even vouch who are the names that will make that final with the exception of 3 or 4 names.
Great Britain's Josh Kerr won a stunning 1500m gold ahead of favourite Jakob Ingebrigtsen at the World Athletics Championships.News and coverage from the #1 ...
The guy he races (who takes silver) was actually his private teacher at the time, hired by Jakobs parents to travel with him to training camps when in the middle of a school semester. And for those wondering, Jakobs hometown Sandnes hosted the national champs we see inn this clip.

They've understood It now, after Budapest. Take a look to ethiopian coach interview.
It’s not about understanding -it’s about being good enough…
You could make a case (tactics) when it comes to Katir against the Ethiopians, because three of the later might have been good enough to beat the Spaniard. But it’s not enough to be the better 5000m runner when you have to deal with a 1500m specialist in a 300m all out sprint.
So “understanding”, but this word isn’t an abracadabra for winning -knowing that a consistent fast pace will help you doesn’t take away the disadvantage of making it (breaking the wind). And against Jakob one got this additional problem: He is probably a few sec better than the Ethiopians also in an all out 5000m, an even more heat tolerant…
You are too much over-evaluating Jakob. He can barely beat a Girma in a 3000m.
Don't make of him a God.
Not sure by the way if he can gold medal at Paris in both 5000m and 1500m.
I'm sure he won't medal in the 1500m because we all know his troubles in tactical races and i think It will be hard for him to medal in the 5000m too. Ethiopians have understood now that they need to put on a fast race and then if they will then i see one among Aregawi, Kejelcha, Kiplimo and Cheptegei to win It. I don't see Jakob winning in a 12'40" race.
So they have understood it while you have NOT understood not putting out wild predictions. Interesting. Hate that these guys just didn't realize they had to run fast and win the gold.
