He's definitely not talking about the trans non-binary influencer who's been all over Runner's World, NPR and the Washington Post who is openly on testosterone.
Because it ain't doping if USADA gives you a (retroactive) TUE!!!!
Cal Calamia is a nonbinary runner who is taking testosterone as part of his transition and was granted an unexpected exemption from the U.S. Anti-Doping agency
Performance enhancing drugs make unreal performances feasible for elite athletes, and elite-level performances feasible for mediocre athletes.
Kids aspiring to do unreal performances like made popular by social media influencers like David Goggins or Sorokin is incredibly unhealthy. Popular media and even running media writing about there performance as if they are possible for clean athletes sets insanely unrealistic expectations for kids and hobby joggers.
The short answer is of course there are cheating influencers. There are cheaters in every single aspect of life.
I will illustrate by way of anecdote. Duolingo is a language learning app, and it's quite popular. The app is a learning app, but it has been gamified a bit to keep people using it. You get points for a lesson, and you "compete" against other people in leagues. It's completely meaningless and there is nothing for winning, other than the digital achievement.
Yet there are people that spend 8 hours a day, every day, doing the same lesson or small set of lessons, paying money to get "double xp", just to win a weekly league that means nothing, while not learning either.
As if that's not enough, people have made bots that will do the lessons and win that way. Imagine using a bot to win a league that is just there to encourage learning. Those that actually learn and "compete right" can never win diamond league (yea it's called that) with those sorts of people. And for what?
Nick Bare has the most to lose in running. No way he'll get busted. He'll do just enough to avoid getting tested.
Why do you think it's Nick Bare? Because he looks like he's on steroids? That may be the case, but how would steroids enhance his running performance? If anything, I'd think adding unnecessary muscle mass for aesthetics would be a detriment to his running times.
Nope. It will add mass for sure, but it will also be a tremendous aid in recoverability.
This is quite silly. First, Sage has allegedly been on more meds and IV's than legally allowed. Secondly, what are they "influencing"? If they are doing legit PEDs (EPO, Testosterone), then if they win a big race they will be tested and fail. So this is no different than him calling out any professional athlete in any sport.
It sounds like you don’t understand the basic concept of what a social media “influencer” is. They are popular social media figures with a large number of followers. Brands sponsor them to promote their products, thereby “influencing” their followers to become customers of said brand(s).
Social media influencers do not have to win races to earn significant money from running in the race, and thus would not be tested normally after a race. Influencers DO however make large amounts of money from the content they produce as they train for the race, share their progress with followers, and then it all culminates in their race day video.
Sage is saying that if these people are going to depend on PEDs without disclosure in order to guarantee positive training, race and content creating outcomes, they are lying to their followers and should be held accountable like anyone else that profits from competing in the sport.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

We should also talk about one of the biggest ultra influences Joe Rogan. Joe Rogan made mega bucks hucking everything from worthless so-called nootropics like Alpha Brian on fools like me to his incessant promotion of stem cells for performance enhancement that aren't even legal for non athletes in the US. My understanding is that a lot of these stem cells for performance enhancements ceaselessly promoted by people like Joe Rogan are likely very beneficial for endurance athletes and runners. Joe Rogan makes it seem like working several jobs and working out every day is easy, but, no, it is absolutely not possible for normal people that aren't on steroids and other performance enhances like Joe Rogan.

100% agreed. And this is EXACTLY what Ryan Hall is doing. He's using steroids and lying about it in order to trick his followers and to make money. Not very moral at all
I don’t follow any running influencers, guess I’m old. But I googled this Nick Bare character… he’s on roids. The first post I found was him claiming to have gained 27 lbs of lean mass in 6 months. THAT IS HARD TO DO WHILE RUNNING.
college linebackers don’t gain mass that quickly. You know, 20 year olds with a strength and conditioning program, Nutritionists, peak everything. He obviously has some help.
Also if he is on drugs, that’s fine. It’s a big world out there. Not everyone needs to be an angel. It’s Instagram, of course it’s fake.
I don’t know who sage is but nothing gets clicks quite like controversy on the internet.

Buddy, this is no different than Hollywood and actors. Wake up. Nothing about PED will guarantee success. Nothing.
The amount he charges for copy and pasting a plan to all of his athletes is criminal. He's the biggest grifter in the UK running scene and I think a lot of people are waking up to it.

I've thought Ryan Hall was always quite open about his steroid (specifically, testosterone) use, a health-driven issue, which is why I don't think he's the target of this comment. Are people talking about something else?
I'm more sick of the one who "knows" about all this doping and then making vague and meaningless accusations. If you are so certain of who is doping, then freaking call them out by name or report them to authorities. Outside of that it's just playing the victim and letting it continue. Professional athletes love this garbage. "THIS MUST STOP!!!!!" ....But I can't/won't actually say specifically who is doing it. If you are so certain then libel and slander aren't an issue are they? So say it or shut up!
