just exhausted reading endless posts about the Florida runner.
On the positive side, 14:19 makes 29:30 doable and she is definitely better the longer the distance, with pr's of 4:23/8:25/14:19, but on the negative side, she ran 30:03 just last year in a setup race. With the much faster pacing of top elites, though, she could drop that time.
In 2020, at age 22, she ran her then best of 15:14. Now at age 25 she has run 14:19 and is talking about doing 14:45 twice in a 10000m. Her improvement has been astounding but perhaps not unprecedented.
I didn't realize she was already 22 when she ran 15:14. That is a huge leap in 3 years.
Consider that her high school best, according to IAAF, was only 10:28 in the 3200 or 2M! Even that was 18 seconds slower than Valby's junior time.
..Did you forget she was in medal position in 2023 World 10000m im the final lap.
She wasn't in medal contention. She was near the lead. But you had to be totally oblivious to the caliber of runners nearby to raise your voice and actually think something was possible. NBC hires oblivious homer types.
That event has changed so much since 2016 and 2017 when Ayana took off and nobody was capable of going with her. Monson not only has to worry about three Ethiopians but also three Kenyans. The two Kenyans who finished not far behind her last year are significantly younger than she is.

A lot of woman runners are really undertrained in HS but are still fast enough to run in college so we see some crazy improvements it how many 15:31 21 year olds then drop 70s off their 5000m time? How undertrained are these woman in college?
Your post is confusing. There are 5 days between the 10K and 5K which is more than enough rest for Gidey to run both. . .
Sure . . . if Gidey does the 10k/5k double . . . note: only 3 days between the 5k final (8/6) and the 10k (8/9).
However . . . no confusion regarding 36 hours between the 10k & marathon . . . which suggests that if Hassan and/or Gidey are contemplating a track/marathon double, they might do well to choose the 5k . . .

Dude stop being so negative. She is aiming to be in the top 5 all time in her next 10k.. forget it just watch her in 2024!

I'd like to believe she's clean but those times and confidence merit heavy suspicion at least. What's her progression been like, realistic?

How do people think it's possible to go from no earnings to world class in 3 years without cheats? She's running faster than her mile PR pace from 2020, 3 times lol (4:38).

Ethiopia is not putting Gidey in the Marathon team over the current (and former) world Champions Beriso and Gotytom, World Record holder (Assefa) and that other 2.15 valencia winner Degefa.

Alicia's 14:19.45/AR suggests a 29:40 (14:20 + 0:30 = 14:50 x 2 = 29:40 +/- 0:10 = 29:30 - 29:50) . . . but can she do that at The TEN on March 16th off fall base training + 2.5 months of winter racing & 10k race-pace work?
Can Sound Running convince Cranny to rabbit a sub-15 first 5k then continue on for another kilo or two? Or, bring in a top Euro or African 5k gal who could make good bank as Alicia's rabbit?
Also, pacing lights would seem indispensable if they want to pull this off.
Main concern: what happens if Alicia doesn't quite make it to 29:40? Say, she clocks 29:55 . . . another pr & first US woman under 30:00 . . . but would that be fast enough to validate her belief she's fit enough to stick with the world's best in Paris? . . . or would it have a negative influence on what she believes she can/must do?
Have to believe that, since Alicia announced all this three months out from The TEN, big-time preparations amongst Jesse Williams/Ritz/agents/coaches/athletes are well under way to make the women's 10k race the best its ever been . . . and likely/hopefully attract an international field chasing the 30:40 Oly Q . . . with Alicia and a few others looking to break into the 29s . . .

So this is a woman who got outkicked badly by Eilish McColgan, yet she is going to get a medal in the 10000m?

My brother ran 29:35 in college with a 14:38 PR. With what we are seeing women do if she can run 14:19 she will definitely sub 29:30.
I ran 14:18 and I wasn’t within 5 minutes of 2:15 in the marathon.

NBC's oblivious homer types are more in tuned to their audience than your oblivious to everything type.
Their job is to hold interest for their audience which is mostly American even if you, me and the announcers know she going to get dusted on the last lap.
