In 2016, AF had 3 senior all-Americans. In 2017, the team that took 4th at NXR took 8th at NXN (which silenced the haters that think they should not have been selected as an at-large team).
In 2018, they took second at NXR with 6 seniors. They took 10th in 2019, but I remember listening to Milesplit Live (what they now call OnTheLine) that some of their top guys had breathing problems at NXR.
If he means that Niwot will beat them, that’s a respectable take.
Niwot is extremely deep, and they are stacked at 1-7 and beyond. Last season their 1-14 were extremely good and none of those guys are graduating.
Herriman’s 1-4 look a little better next year than Niwot, but they will need a 5th man to be up with those top 4 to win NXN again. And someone can get sick or injured come NXN, so they might need a 6th and 7th. But, Soles has had guys come out of nowhere, so it wouldn’t be surprising if someone steps up ( a 5th runner at least)
They'll probably get a transfer, they got one last year after placing 3rd at nxn. Even without a transfer, winning would be plausible for Herriman. It'll be close no matter what

They actually won without a transfer in the NXN lineup. They did have a transfer, but he wasn’t part of that lineup and he went to Runninglane and did really well there

Some people step out of nowhere. In 2022, the Tang brothers weren’t even top 10 on the team for most of the meets, but in 2023, they were #2 on the team in some races.
Even though they are losing a lot, they will still finish top 3 in state next year.
Or maybe even top 2. Both in 6A and overall in Utah. They are looking to have a better top 5 than Mountain View, although Mountain View will have more depth beyond that.
Even though they only return 1 person that participated in NXN, based on how much people stepped up this spring and the coaching on the team, this doesn’t seem impossible. Returning 3200 times 8:46 (the lone NXN returner) 9:19 9:24 / 4:13 9:31 / 4:27 9:43 / 4:19 (both times in March) / 1:53 9:50
Besides NXR, Addy won all of her races by a very large margin, including state. She also broke a few course records. NXR was her only off race. She finished close to people she blew away in other races. I wasn't surprised when she won NXN.
Imo she didn't have an off day at nxr. In a place where her team was actually capable of losing, she took it conservatively to not risk blowing up, and got out kicked. She had the same plan at NXN and it just ended up people up front blew up and she took the opportunity given to her at 4k. Very similar strategy to Thouy in '22 nats. Good on her for not risking her teams status for individual glory.
What more does she need to do to have her name spelled correctly?

American Fork gained a 9:21 3200 transfer from San Clemente CA. Now they are 7-deep.
Herriman did gain a 9:06 and a 9:28 transfer though. This will make them tough to beat
Not very often a team wins NXN without winning NXR. Or without winning the state meet.
Last time this happened was 2019, when the FM girls team won the state meet & NXR, then Saratoga won NXN
There are way too many championship style races today in our sport. Most states have an "elite meet" at the beginning of Track & Field, state championships, and of course many huge invitationals in the spring, summer, and winter as well for top athletes. Coaches also schedule State Team Championships during the middle of the season. In Cross Country there are huge invitationals in the summer or early fall, state championships, and I HAVE NO IDEA AND NO INTEREST IN KNOWING HOW MANY NATIONALS IN NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER!
