I think this is great news for Allie. Ari was not the right coach for Allie. I think Allie needs supportive coaches like the Roches. Looking forward to watching what's next!
I think Roche is a great fit for Allie O. At least she has a real trail coach to keep her from doing some of the silly things she did this year with Ari. SWAP-style training seems to be especially good for faster-twitch types who burn out trying to match the high mileage of some other plans. Clare Gallagher only trained 55-65 miles a week to win WSER. There are dozens and dozens of other champion examples than just Clare and Cat.
Look at Koop's injured reserve list to see what pure science gets some runners.
Roche's training is differentiated and supportive. I was with him for 6 years and it changed me as a runner and a person.
Please name the "dozens and dozens" of other champion examples below.
On the Allie side of this, as much as I don't think Roche is a very good coach, at least Allie is looking to improve and make changes and recognized that where she is now is not where she want to be going forward. If SWAP helps her improve, then it's a good fit regardless of the idiot driving the ship.
Emotionally, these two are a match made in heaven. #stayToxic
Whatever fits the hyper liberal boulder narrative? He likes to suck up to talented pro runners and always is full of praise and saying bs like "eat all the ice cream"....
"Transgender women are women, and evidence indicates that trans women following applicable regulations do not have an advantage in running compared to cisgender women."
All I'm saying is this is an example of his "Scientific Method" and worldview.
He also spews what I would call "toxic positivity". I believe it does a disservice to the sport as well as all the athletes he's constantly been injuring over the years. It appears he sends out aggressive interval workouts on a cookie cutter schedule to the same dozens of athletes under the guise of "personal training."
Why are you so triggered by what others do? What makes you such a defective human?
He literally wrote this:

I mean better than Jason Koop and CTS who charges over 1000 a month lmao for what?
$1000 a month for coaching an anorexic trail runner who keeps getting pelvic fractures. Is she still running, or did he finally “coach” her on how to get enough calories? Great coach , he should make way more.
Whatever you say about Roche, the guy runs a genius pyramid scheme type coaching business
He coaches the top athletes. Then he makes them coaches for SWAP (recycling his training) and will refer new clients to these athletes. Undoubtedly takes a monthly cut from this and the cycle continues. Dude makes bank

This is not true. I am one of David's athletes and he helped me start a coaching business (my own, not associated with SWAP). He referred athletes to me without asking for anything in return. He did not ask me to use his training or coaching philosophy in my own coaching.
Yes. David referred people to me to coach with no strings or expectations. He encouraged me and others to coach as a way to grow beyond just being an athlete.

No, the guy makes bank because he "personally" coaches dozens and dozens of athletes using the same cookie cutter training plan and the same workouts simultaneously probably.
He gets "free" advertising and social media buzz from all the top athletes he coaches posting about SWAP and he encourages them by telling them they are "awesome" all the time. Add in some self depreciating humor and toxic positivity and he can stroke their ego even more.
The most talented athletes can do well off of moderate to high intensity on 60 to 80 miles a week. The ones you don't hear about are the ones that are getting hurt all the time from his interval training.
The Roaches don't need the money though. They like to split their time between Boulder, Aspen and CA.
In the grand scheme of things his coaching is not very high intensity at all. All the swap athletes I’m aware of train on a basic weekly schedule of 1 interval workout a week and a harder long run. Seems on the low end if anything. Especially compared to Koop/CTS training philosophy that has some pros doing back to back hard workouts and up to 3 quality days a week, or Scott Johnson who has at least one of his top athletes (Tom Evans) doing double threshold twice a week. Not to say one approach is better than the others, just seems a bit weird to crap on Roches training with the reasoning that it’s intense nature makes it more likely to cause injury.

His first affirmative statement about the "evidence" (second sentence) is demonstrably false, which doesn't help his credibility.
