Hopefully Nordas will be able to replace him at the top of this (and other) podium
Nordås just got hammered with a 13’26 for 5km in Lille. Likely just base phase with a fun run after a hard training camp. His training mate was only 4 seconds back.
Pretty good time for being hammered. He should take a stab at the Beer Mile.
Wrong. You can write off one year as a fluke, but not two. Jakob did better with Gjert.
Flukes have nothing to do with it. The nature of the race impacts Ingebrigtsen's odds of winning. Ingebrigtsen is more likely to win when someone rabbits a fast pace for him (2021) versus when he has to rabbit a fast pace for the rest field (2022 and 2023).

And he ran faster and won two 5000m titles without Gjert.
Starting to see more injuries pop up in the last couple years for him. I suspect all those years of high mileage and double thresholds might be catching up to him. Will he be toast by 29?
Yes. No one would be able to keep that up.
I mean, by the "10 years of training before lifetime peak" rule, 29 is already a bit long.
Also 29 is 6 more long years, more than enough for him to reach for all of his WR goals - but 6 years might be optimistic, who knows..

Jakob is not a passive participant in the race. He can employ different tactics. He cannot expect to have a rabbit in a championship race. Gjert prepared him to win the 1500 in Tokyo. Without Gjert’s preparation, he lost. It’s as simple as that.

Is it because you've been following him closely in the last couple of years since he became Olympic Champion? At one point Jakob said himself on Coffee Club podcast something such as "is not like I don't have any injuries" (but I managed to be healthy on the start line, the moral was.)
If he had stayed with his father, he would have won double gold last year and this year, he would be the 2023 Athlete of the Year (instead of not even being a finalist), and he wouldn’t be injured now. Father knows best.
It's understandable that the father's opinion is valued in this situation, but it's important to remember that there are many factors that contribute to an athlete's success and injuries can happen regardless of who is coaching them. It's also important to respect the athlete's own decisions and goals for their career.
The question here is if he is really injured or if he is 100% preparing and training for Paris...
If there wasn't an injury, Jakob would at the moment BOTH been preparing for the European Cross Country and the Olympics in Sierra Nevada* (*high altitude training camp in Spain) with Henrik Ingebrigtsen & Co.
There is something with this injury that is hindering Jakob from training optimal at the moment. November is not the "optimal training month" up in the Nordic Countries so to speak. Jakob is seeking the optimal path for success.
He should have stayed with Dad. He was able to keep it going for a little while but now he’s falling apart without Gjert’s guidance and support.
Holy shieee, if last season was him falling apart I do not know what to say, his potential would be enormous!
My guess is that he is drained from all the drama and need more time "off" + he probably have learned from this season that he might want to focus more on the big goal to not lose out on a gold yet again.
He also just got married a few weeks ago and honeymooned in the Maldives. Forgive him for enjoying a little down time.
Such a stupid comment. The runners who beat him the last two years were both in the Olympic final. He beat them with Gjert. He lost to them without Gjert.
Don’t know if you’re trolling, write your posts as a joke or seriously miss the larger picture (either ways you made me laugh, so your posts are welcome!)
In 2022 Jakob lost to Wightman because the latter had established a stamina he didn’t have in the Olympics, and in 2023 Kerr won largely because Jakob was sick.
Here’s what Jakob accomplished in his best season with Gjert: Olympic gold, 3.28.32 pr, 12.48 pr, 3.47 mile pr, some Golden league wins, but lost in Monaco and in the 1500m Diamond league final.
Best season without Gjert (2023): Lost just one race (due to well documented sickness). Pr’ed by 1.18 sec in the 1500m, around 4 sec in the mile, approximately 7 sec in the 2000m (WR), 3.5 sec in the 3000m, new World best in the 2 mile, World champion in the 5000m -sure; he is a much worse runner now compared to the 2021 season -ROFL!
He's been through a lot recently and a lot has changed in his life. Plus if he's injured, I think this is a good decision to skip it and take some down time.

I can’t of course be totally sure, but I think you grossly misunderstand Gjert’s role in team Ingebrigtsen, because:
1. The last years (even in the Olympics) Gjert pointed out that he never interfered or even posed any opinions on his sons tactical decisions in the races.
2. Gjert liked to pretend he is a dictator coach (in front of cameras), but we know his coaching has been hugely influenced by his sons inputs / adjustments. Even in situations of fierce disagreement (from Gjert’s side) he has had to give in, as f.ex documented in the Team Ingebrigtsen episode from Sierra Nevada where both Jakob and Henrik refuse to do the workout in the way Gjert firmly demands, and Jakob even runs “half naked” in the wind and the snowing as a protest against Gjert’s proposal of delay (because of the weather conditions).
3. I suspect the coaching was a team effort even before the break up with Gjert, and I think this team effort among the brothers has continued (not necessarily ditching all the Gjert principles for the sake of it, and I also think the “Norwegian method” based on Marius Bakken is the most important core anyways, and that the fine tuning can be done with or without Gjert -as in coaching Narve Nordås, where Gjert has acknowledged the disciple’s many inputs as valuable adjustments.)
4. Jakob has had his fair amounts of injuries also when Gjert was coaching.
So you’re saying Gjert wasn’t the inflexible dictatorial monster that Jakob makes him out to be. All the more reason Jakob should have stayed with him.
