I believe the rules state no ties. Only when a sole runner completes a full loop will a winner be declared.
There are no ties. If both the last 2 runners fail to complete a loop in time OR the final runner doesn't do one more loop in time, there is no winner.
If one runner completes a lap and the other runner doesn't complete the lap in the same hour, the first runner is declared the winner.
If the winner has to do 1 more lap after the runner-up drops out, does the winner have to do the lap in an hour, or do they get more time?
The younger guy (who sat in the chair) looks like he is nearing the end of his race. But, for all I know, he's looked like that for 50 laps now. I can't believe what I am seeing here!

The last one standing still has to do their last lap in an hour.

My feeling has changed. I don’t really want to see either lose now, but I sense “age” might be a factor.
Uh oh. And after that last aid station, sizing them up on the start line, I was giving the calm youngster the edge, over Harvey, who was trying to stretch it out.
He asked his team to change shoes and they wouldn't do it until the next lap. Seems like a terrible crew decision. Whatever the athletes need to get through a lap you do. What a shame. He did seem pretty much done though.
Is he walking back, or walking the course. Could be a strategic ploy, if the latter. Imagine he were to fake a drop-out; word would get back to Harvey he’ll be the imminent winner. And then the kid pops back to deliver a devastating psychological blow!

Wow, seriously? What would be the reason not to have him change shoes??
I thought, looking at his face, he actually looked very very good, considering. I would never have guessed he had been doing this since Saturday.

No, He turned around and is just walking back to start.
