Alright that makes more sense. Jakob, Filip and Henrik don't really mean to say that their daddy Gjert was really violent in an imbalanced manner but was merely exhibiting STRONG OPINION which turns out to be false! Strong opinion can only be true if it is scientific or Scriptural opinion.
Its pretty obvious whom to believe. I would not believe anyone with such a Bad taste in tatoos
It’s just sounds like the relationship to his sons when he coached and trained them felt like abuse with is always difficult for a family members who not support.
sounds like he was a bad coach, though he got results, which lead to him being a bad father, which the brothers can’t get past, I’m sure it will be emotional harm instead of physical violence which the brothers talked about based on that article.
all stuff as a coach you have to learn about, well you do under Uk athletes,
Sounds about right. Jakob’s wife Elisabeth confirms how much the social media support means in her latest instagram story, with a rather “millennial” statement:-
My translation:-
“After a lot of ugly comments over the last few weeks, it’s nice to see all the support in the comments here on instagram and many lovely DMs ❤️ It means a lot. I don’t quite have the capacity to reply to everything, but want you to know how much it has helped to read kind words from you! Many thanks for that (and to those of you who feel the need to send ugly dms and comments - you’re blocked - because I don’t have the energy)”
I’m curious what the alleged violence amounts to. Hopefully these statements will be scrutinised and someone will review testimony from the alleged victims & any witnesses since it seems that Gjert is being publicly accused of criminal acts. Hopefully we’ve learnt by now that the appropriate response is to “listen & verify” when people with stakes come forward with claims of abuse, rather than to blindly believe all stakeholders making vague claims of abuse via media.
What Martin says about “strong personalities” in the family rings true. The latest claims alone still don’t fully explain Henrik being a d*** towards Narve Nordås. We have seen evidence of Henrik’s “strong personality”, and it’s easy to speculate about a brewing rebellion, jealousy, the allure of a paycheck, a slice of Jakob’s pie, limited spots in an Olympic 5000m.
What hurts Henrik most, the scars of childhood trauma or resorting to a road half, which he’s said would be like leaving formula 1 for le mans. And then failing at that?
All very Shakespearean.
Meanwhile Yared Nuguse quietly prepares for Paris, reads fantasy novels & dreams of dental school…

are you crazy?! Bad coach! - he has coached 4 kids from his neighborhood to average sub-3.30. for 1500m. Name anyone else that can do that! Bad parent - probably. Coachaholic - certainly. Didn't lead to him being a bad father, the two are related but not mutually. Secondly, bad coach to whom? Certainly not Nordas. The difficult part is the coach/parent relationship which he hasn't handled well, that is not in dispute.
Martin was actually very talented, which is well documented in the series. However he lacked the ambition to become an athlete.
Caveat that this is all coming from the TV series, but I never got the feeling that Jakob, Henrik, or Filip feared Gjert either. It seemed more like annoyance like anyone would have with a dad as their coach for many years. They also talked back regularly, although maybe Filip less so. They put up with him because they knew his training worked and he had their best interests from a running perspective in mind.
Compared to some sports parents I've seen, Gjert was fairly mild. Never pushed them in training, in fact, the whole point of their training is to not go too hard. A good portion of the TV series was Gjert telling Henrik to stop pushing himself so hard in training because he was always injured. The three could have walked away at any time, just like Martin and Kristoffer did. Filip moved to Oslo, probably in part to get away from Gjert, but he was still coached by him.
Here’s a break down of their running careers…
They chose to be coached by him. He even warned Jakob that it might be too intense.
Daddy yelled a lot to demand perfection.
That intensity contributed to their success but also subconsciously angered them.
Jakob didn’t pay daddy like he should of when he made the big bucks.
Daddy is coaching someone else so there’s jealousy. This has released the the suppressed subconscious anger built towards his intensity over the years.
Martin like them was given a choice. He knew that it wasn’t for him. Thus his view of his father is very different. Bottom line is that the three elite running brothers chose their path. They knew what he was like but chose a chance at greatness over the effects of his intense personality. They made a deal with the devil and are now paying for it. They need to man up, take responsibility, and move on.
actually, if i remember correct he was physically the most gifted brother (maybe besides jakub) but he did not have the mental toughness to compete...he did not have the eye of a tiger...
agree! i say he was of jakubs caliber (or close to...)

This completely blows my mind…
How is Elizabeth even involved in this
This reminds me of the Jeselnik’s “thoughts and prayers” joke.
Hey, don’t forget about me…
im just thinking....maybe the physical abuse they talk about is about having to take PEDs...injecting stuff into their bodies. roids and stuff...
i see it unlikely that either side wants to bring that up to the surface. maybe when Gjert wanted to put Ingrid on that same "medication/treatment" the boys (henrik, filip n jakub) decided that enuff is enuff...n broke with their daddy?

Martin (the other brother) just wrote his own article - exposing the Henrik’s story as - well - kind of made up
”fear is luckily an unfamiliar feeling for me. I have never feared dad. I must honestly say that i find it difficult to see the great fear, when others in the family recurrently visit and recently went on vacation with Gjert. Most people hadnt done that with a violent person, nor built their house within walking distance of their family home if they felt genuine fear. I have never feared dad in that way”
The Ingetits obsession around here is unending.
let me add too; elizabeth was not even part of the family (or was she?) when the allege violence took place. so it wud be hard for someone from the outside to judge. we can only see that gjert is kind of a freaky father in the team ingebrigtsen series. but he doesnt seem to be violent, just aggressive, loud, controlling and goal oriented. but it seems he only wants to win...who knows what really happened?
i have to agree. well said. i remember that scene when the bros are by themselves in my country (stockholm) for a diamond league meet. and for dinner the boys go to a burger king or mcdonalds and then send pics of the food to gjert just to tease/upset him. of cos gjert reacts. i dont think the boys wud have done that if they feared him so much. but who knows...

Classic letsrun post here.
“Bratty kids” vs “the guy who created them”
Speaks volumes about your character.
In a family with 7 kids, there is no way that you can run a household without exerting control and having challenging relationships. I am in charge of a 250 staff department, with 8 direct reports. My direct reports are all highly qualified and experienced professionals, but we don't always agree or get along. I'm consistently demanding and tough on them, and do put different pressures on each according to their strengths and weaknesses... this is not to compare children to adults who can choose, but it's to highlight that as the leader of a large group you will always default to a more consistently tough approach and will exert more authority to keep the glue strong. Btw, there is a price that the family members pay just for being a part of a large functioning operation. Very little individual attention, fighting for your opinion and turn, fending for yourself. Add to that the pressures and physical grind of your dad trying to make you a pro athlete, and you're bound to have at least a few butthurt individuals.
Publicly boycotting the dad is a snowflake move IMO. They are adults now - settle that cr@p privately and do more to rise above it. Again just my opinion.
It’s a PR war. Elisabeth is involved because as influencers her & Liva are probably the ones on social media the most & most affected by any perceived negativity.
Interesting quote from the brother’s agent too “it’s good this is out there so that the boys can get sympathy.”
Just read 2 articles on VG from Hytteplanmila, one where Gjert gives measured answers to questions from the press (inc. that he welcomes a police investigation) & another with Narve Nordås comments. Pretty bad weather here in Norway just now but Narve won Hytteplanmila in 27:58, 4 seconds off Jakob’s course record, despite stating he “feels the discomfort of the situation in his whole body” and that his thoughts wandered to his recollections of the last 9 years during the race. Apparently he’s going to put out a statement at some point to share his perspective based on his experience training around Team Ingebrigtsen for years. But again, fairly measured responses, admitting he’s seen some things and not others.

Btw, I am being insensitive to the current situation of the serious athletes in the family. Jakob has got to do what keeps him motivated and focused. If that means keeping a healthy distance from the dad then that's the short term answer.
I realize that it's the interpretation of thousands of snowflake IG followers and fanboys that is a significant part of the problem here. This is just a family going through issues and even people who have watched their show may have very little insight to be passing any meaningful judgement. Get a life people!
