For the 1000th time, the poop incident was a French Canadian. OAC people on their podcast dropped that awhile back.
The move to Eugene 100% ruined BTC. People have families, people want to have a coaches full attention. Jerry is making 7 figures in total now so I’m sure he doesn't mind.
yeah I remember interviews with BTC athletes like Evan Jager at Worlds in 2022 that found out like 10 days prior that Jerry was going to Eugene--I think Jager's wife had a job in Portland--easy for Jerry to make a move but harder for the athletes with less means and income...
Ahmed, Knight, and Hicks still make a pretty good team on their own, a 12:47 guy with multiple international medals who still contends, a 12:51 guy with enormous talent (who probably will get injured on Jerry's inflexible system but who could probably get into the 12:40s easily on a half dose of Jerry's training), and a promising former collegian who joins Knight as what I think to be the second NCAA xc champ on the men's roster.
no one gets into the 12:40's easily.
stop that.
How about someone who ran 12:51 already, who is young still, who never had any comparable ability running partners before, and who is joining a group with a proven track record of getting top talents into the upper 12:40s recently?
This only applies to a small percentage of message board trolls. Nike is still worn and loved by the vast majority of runners. Most of us support Shelby and want her to come back.
We don't support Shelby. She's guilty and needs to go away.
Everyone who followed Shelby and her career supports her and knows she didn't do anything intentionally.
C'mon, if you're going to make the obvious burrito reference every time Shelby or BTC is mentioned, at least try to be funny or original, or at least not the fifth one on the same thread.
Cynical take but a lot of people predicted this after Shelby got busted. The University of Oregon job was supposed to clean up the image of the team, and a good excuse to wind it down.
Nike sponsors a lot of doped runners but a bust at BTC was a little too close.
The big question is whether Nike will move to create another top pro team.
Everyone who followed Shelby and her career supports her and knows she didn't do anything intentionally.
Anyone who thinks they know what's going on inside her head because they "followed" her career is an idiot. Dopers keep secrets from their closest friends and family. Being a fan doesn't give you any special insight.
People seem to think that if someone is a good person, they won't dope. But good people dope all the time. They rationalize it a million different ways.
