Roark said Wiley has been approached by shoe companies, training groups and agents but “has intentions” of representing Huntington University in both cross country and track in 2023-24.
Y'all really don't see the extremely obvious red flag here?
Agree. It absolutely stinks 😷. Would love to know Wetmore’s reaction. She just took Simpson’s collegiate record. She gave up arguable the best DI women’s programme in history (at altitude) in Colorado under Wetmore for a known doping couple and a known doping programme in a shirty little NAIA university no one has ever heard of? And STILL refuses to leave? It STINKS!!
Yeah, I agree about the Touhy comparisons. I mean, who the fvck cares about Touhy? Aspiring dentists? Why punch down?
For sure. Why are we bringing Tuohy into the thread again? Her name was never mentioned until a Wiley fan brought her up/
Tuohy definitely won’t run as fast as Wiley in the 800 and more than likely the 1500/mile, during her career. Wiley will never run as fast as Tuohy from 3000 on up or in XC. They’re two totally different types of runners. Dolts don’t understand that.
Even if Wiley were to somehow miraculously surpass Tuohy in the longer distances, Tuohy will have the better future in life overall.
Do you think that if Kipyegon were in 3:47 shape, she'd have a strong kick in a 3:47 race? Or would she be hanging on with only a slight increase in pace?
Good effort by Wiley but you or one of the other Wiley fanbois were on here stating that she was going to go sub 3:56.
Whomever it was wasn't very smart because they thought that "Brussel's" was the name of a city. Either that or they thought that Brussel was the name of the city and for some reason wrote it as a possessive, as in "Brussel's track," or whatever.
If we can put the scandal and red flags aside, it is a bit surprising that she's receiving limited press coverage for these types of performances. Outside of David Woods/Dyestat, Milesplit, and a few other niche media outlets, she really isn't getting much press. Fast Women has been reporting on her performances with an air of hesistancy.
Remember when Mary Cain was popping off elite times (that were slower than Addy)? It seemed like EVERYONE was giving her coverage.
Is she turning down interviews/press exposure like she's turning down shoe contracts and agents?
Largely agree with you. I thought Touhy and Valby were awesome in xc, and I hope the very best for them. I also agree that there is more to life then running, but how can you say, “Even if Wiley were to somehow miraculously surpass Tuohy in the longer distances, Tuohy will have the better future in life overall.”?
Isn’t asserting an unknowable as though it were a 100% certainty taking homerism a bit far?
Lol. They won't feature the most promising rising US mid-distance runner but they will feature a runner who has emphatically stated they is not a woman.

Looks like the Wikipedia article will need to be edited. According to this list, this is the first ever outright collegiate record not coming from the NCAA. Great run

Will the run actually count as an NAIA record? Asking because it was not run in an NAIA competition. The Wikipedia article can be updated, though.
I do believe that if Wiley were at an NCAA school that it would not count as an official NCAA record.
Also, someone here said that Wiley has signed with an agent. If she has signed with an agent, she’s a professional. What is her official status in that regard?

She isn't getting much press because the fast times are coming at meets with mostly no name runners. If it weren't for these boards, I'd have no idea who she was until this past summer.
I feel bad for the kid. No one really knows why she stayed. Maybe she didn't want to leave her home town. Maybe the thought of going to a school with 30k kids didn't appeal to her. She probably won't get much attention for the race she just ran. It's a great time but she wasn't even in camera view at the finish line.
Next year will be her coming out party. She won't sneak up on anyone. If her trajectory is really that high, then making the team in the 1500 should be a slam dunk. The U.S. team is as bereft of talent as I've ever seen it.

Touché
I probably should not have said that. It was more of a reaction to the Wiley fans always stating that Tuohy has not future or will soon be in a “cubicle the rest of her life.”
Reacting to that brings me down to their level.
I’m not a Tuohy fan or a Wiley detractor. I’m just a fan of the sport. I would like to see both do well.

It will be an "all dates" record but the official record would need to be run during NCAA outdoor season.
