Sloans are at Ventura now. Noah did well at their recent Gaucho Invitational. But in addition to Herrera, NP has Asa Fletcher in his SOP. (1:54 @ 800/4:29 @1600/ 9:56 @3200)
Many of the parents are complaining and kids wanting to quit. The coach is unstable. He used to get into it with youth parents for yelling at their 8 year old kids as a youth coach. The future is not good for this crew.
Well if that’s really the case, then why would those 2 people transfer in?
…also missing was the Sloan brothers and Herrera (???)
Doshi (14:58)
Guevara (15:17)
Shetty (15:18/9:15 for 3200m)
N Sloan (9:32 for 3200m)
Herrera (9:32 for 3200m)
Dickran (15:27)
So in theory only 2 of their top 5 competed

Didn’t Fletcher come from Virginia? I thought when you move you can run varsity right away.
That's laughably ridiculous! He doesn't yell at kids. He's Clark Kent. Just a vicious rumor.
Hi Coach you’re already causing problems within the parents , kids and the school. The more you reply on here, the more athletes, parents and everyone will prove you wrong. It’s a losing situation for you.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but you misidentified me. I’m not the coach, nor affiliated with the staff. I’m just a fly on the wall. 😆

Brilliant cover up! The Clark Kent reference was clever. Learning from the best as Brosnan was the true master.
Someone who isn't the coach just couldn't have that much detailed insider info unless you are the absolute nosiest parent.
I feel for you though. It's a rough place to be when you read the message boards and learn none of your team or their parents like you. Ouch.

Does Sean Brosnan think this time is fast for a HS mile?

This story has been told many times before. Just like Arcadia and Loudoun Valley they will be half way decent this year. Next it will be a huge collapse. They already looked god awful on the girls side, but still have fumes on the boys side to survive one year. They won’t be at the National level, but they will survive.
And on top of all this the new coach is causing many issues only one race into the season. It doesn’t take an Ivy League degree to see this not ending well.

What NP boys got left for 2024:
Dickran - 15:27 3-mile - 10
Herrera - 9:37 3200 - 11
Bernardino - 15:52 3-mile - 10
Watson - 16:07 3-mile - 11
Sax - 16:07 3-mile - 10
Ingersoll - 17:06 3-mile (16:12 last year) - 11
Zasloff 4:59 1600 in 7th grade - 9
Reynolds - 17:30 in the 3 mile / 15th in the Frosh race at Cool Breeze - 9
Notice that 5 of these guys are coming back for 2025 also.
They also have Aydin Blunt from NBP track club who ran a 4:57 last spring. Not on the NP HS team so he is probably in 8th grade right now. The last name is familiar. He is probably the brother of Zaki (2022 grad who now runs at UCSB)
I'm in agreement. In addition to Dev, there were at least three other top varsity runners who were not entered. Braden Herrera and Asa Fletcher who are doing their SOP, and Nate Porter, who is recovering from mild shin splints. Also, Arnav Shetty ran while ill. Expect big things from him when he is healthy.
Where is Doshi? And what happened to him in track? Seems like a LONG time since he has run well.
A lot of top NP guys didn’t do track last year. Nico Young didn’t run track freshman year.

Doshi was injured this past spring. I assume he's working toward coming back to racing.
Nico was also injured during his freshman track season; he's talked a lot about how he grew a ton in 9th and 10th grade, and how that made it hard for him to stay healthy enough to train and race consistently during those years.
Interesting that through the top four Oaks Christian was ahead 22-23, and their team time was 14 faster, with 3 juniors and one sophomore. NP top 3 are seniors. But it is a 5 runner score, and NP has 3 guys 90+ faster than OC's #5. If Oaks Christian gets a fifth this year or next they suddenly become really good.

Also worth notice that Oaks Christian’s 5th runner is a freshman, and big jumps happen from freshman to sophomore year. Maybe he could be the one to take a big leap next year and close the gap on their 4th.
Seven guys sub 16 (Watson, a junior, won the jv race in 15:53). Eight guys at 16:02 or faster.
Not too shabby. They aren't a national power anymore but remain pretty strong in a very tough xc area.
And also 2 more transfers in the SOP talked about earlier in this thread. Herrera and Fletcher. I wonder why they aren’t racing JV during this SOP. Aren’t all transfers eligible to race JV?
