Give the kid a break. This is all new to him flying halfway across the world, just a few days after his first global championships.
When Wanyonyi ran a single 1:44-mid in the middle of the season you said it was evidence that he’d spent the early part of the year loading up on PEDs and was going to be a non-factor at Worlds. “Give the kid a break.”
What is crazy in that 800 race is Isaiah Harris ran close to his sb (1:44.85) by running 1:45.10 and was 11th out of 12. Shows you how much work the US has to do in the event.

What's embarrassing is his 11th place is the best showing for an American in this meet. Heehee...devastation.

Harris’s PB is 1:44.42
*I misread your post as “pb,” my apologies.
Yeah it would be nice to see some real turnover of our 800 crew in the next couple years with some new 1:43 guys coming through. But it’s no surprise that Harris isn’t stellar, and this race was stacked.

Yes a shame he couldn’t get in the mix. But good on him for flying out there and giving it a go. I guess he peaked at the right time. There must be a lot of fatigue post Worlds.
This meet is more of a chance for those that missed the Worlds for whatever reason or ran early last week.
