But he would have nothing to gain and everything to lose. He should enjoy the throne for a while and let other guys fight it out amongst themselves, imo.
Plus, once he has decided, he’s mentally out of it. IMO it’s a done deal. And screw “the US”, when “the US” you are talking about is Eugene, Nike, and USATF. Bunch of douchebags and clowns imo.
Dude already hates LRC because of the gold medal comment by rojo. Last thing he's going to do is listen to that same person tell him what to do
He doesn't hate us at all. He shook Jonathan Gault's hand in the coffee shop in Paris. Guy is a class act - just a class act I wish was going to Eugene. Full disclosure, I get why he isn't going. No incentive. I won't be in Eugene either.
Well if the top running journalist isn’t going why do you expect Lyles to attend? I mean you’re trying to get in on the Noah internet trash talk here but you even say you get why he’s not going. There is zero incentive for him.

Look at as a mini boycott that could ultimately be good for the sport. Seb Coe has finally seemed to realize the best places to host major competitions (it’s not Eugene anymore).
It's corrupt. Only Max and Seb get paid hugely. Hayward Field is known for low class management. Indie TV uses volunteer TV cameramen. Indie media uses unpaid writers, free camera club children, free high schoolers, and free high school coaches. The athletes get very low prizes, no TV fees, no royalties.
Because he will not receive the appearance fee that he desires. You can't figure this out. Nike won't pay him because he is an Adidas athlete!
Did Usain Bolt ever run Pre? No because Nike is too hateful to pay Bolt or Lyles. This was a smart move on Lyles part.
Agree with this. I think it's Adidas has probably asked him to skip. Also, interesting point Bolt never made an appearance at Pre...a meet that usually had the best of the best over the years.
Noah’s mind can only be influenced via anime references. You need to find an anime where the hero who thought he claimed the title of supermaster is forced to undergo an additional battle to mount the ultimate throne. He must go full super saiyan, just this once
Let's face it. He's not running for the same reason that he ran the prelims at the US indoor championships and then skipped the final. He's afraid he'll get beat.
Rojo, I, of course like to see the stars compete but I am actually going to side with Noah Lyles on this one. While we do need meets to matter beyond the WC and Olympics, it makes no sense to have the DL finals in the same year as a world championships. In a sport where the casual fan won't care about more than a few races a year, you can't keep saying all of the meets are important or you become the boy who cried wolf. With the baseball season heating up and football in full force, how many casual track fans will actually pay attention to the DL finals.
The Diamond League finals would happen only once every four years if we didn't do them after the World Championships or Olympics.
How could anyone possibly care about a sport where there is only one meaningful competition per year?
You should have told him that story about the black guy who moved to Eugene for the progressive cannabis laws. That would have gone a long way towards establishing your credibility.
It is weird to have meets after Worlds. What other sport does that? People say it's a waste of peak fitness to not have anything beyond that, but that's what everyone was peaking for. For something to matter, there needs to be stakes. And stakes say you should've performed at Worlds.
