Please list any other countries named America. I'll wait.
What Grumpy is saying is correct. There are North and South Americans. NA is composed of the USA and Canada. That’s why you don’t see “America” written on USA shirts.
How it is possible that people are this clueless? Americans aren't called Americans because they live in North America. They are called Americans because it's a shortened version of the name of the country, which is "The United States Of America."
No other country has the word "America" in it's name. If other countries were called something like "The Canadian States of America" or "The Mexican States of America" then you might have a point. But they aren't, so you don't.
Oh. I'm out of the loop. I plead ignorance. I didn't know that. However, there is a big difference between posing silently in front of a camera and being expected to talk.
I don’t think I hope for anyone to lose in track. (I’ll think about that and let you know if I can come up with anyone.) I was hoping she’d race because her presence will help to make the final one of the most exciting events of the whole championships. Who wouldn’t want to see that?
only way Mu is likely to lose is if she falls down... but there's a well above zero chance of that.
Women tripping in champs is a meme since Decker, Uceny, Martinez, since forever. And this time around it's already Hassan, Bol and now Mu. Mu managed to stay on her feet, but if it was the final, might have been fatally gapped.
Honestly I haven't paid any attention to Mu. I vaguely know she's the current best 800m runner in the world. Yeah, haven't paid much attention to track the past couple years. Then I started hearing about her maybe not running worlds just cuz she maybe didn't feel like it and she just wants to be a model or something. Then I see her just walk off the track after that 800m, zero sportsmanship. I don't know anything about it but I gotta say I don't have a good impression of her right now.
I'm not rooting against her but my impression of her at this point is she doesn't even like the sport that she excels at. So yeah I wouldn't mind seeing an upset and see someone beat her who really wants it and enjoys the sport.
What are you talking about? Have you read about Mu's history? She is ultra competitive to a fault. She recalls every loss with bitterness. Mu only comes to worlds to win. We should celebrate how well she has lived her life. She is out to win. She is a Goddess. I want her to dominate for the USA.
She hates competing, is more into the glam life than track life and does not even shake hands at the end of the semi or do interviews. I am becoming less of a fan.
I wouldn’t say I’m rooting for her to lose, but I want someone else to win.
Well, that’s kind of a contradiction so yes, maybe I am.
Her no-shows and the LA Times article really turned me against her.
I know it’s not as fashionable to root against her now as it was when the article came out, but by God, I’m sticking to it!
And yes, it’s definitely petty.
I don’t wish her ill, but I’m Hodgkinson all the way!
If you are an American rooting for anyone other than Mu, Akins, and Rogers (yes, rooting for all three) you are un-American and should leave this country. Fools. USA! USA! USA!
Can people stop saying American when referring to the United States? America involves many countries.

I sure am. Add to that she doesn’t bother to do interviews. Not a likeable “star”.

Wrong. You do realize that there people called Latin Americans and South Americans, right? Speaking of clueless
