Just watched the race. Wow. Saffan, with her wild form, sprung into action from back in the pack with a lap to go. I would've put my money on her with half a lap to go. I think she accelerated just a little too aggressively, frying her legs; with a more gradual acceleration she could've got a close 2nd.
I noticed that, too. Looks like she is overstriding. Would love to see her Garmin running gait analytics. My guess:
- stride length should be decreased - vertical oscillation seems a bit excessive, too - ground contact time seems ok, though - also, saw a bit over overpronation - probably should add some plyometrics or crossfit

Not what you would call a 'thinking' runner. But then most aren't.
Yes, everyone on planet earth knows she is not only the world record holder, but possesses the strongest last lap of anyone. Everyone knows except Sifan Hassan. Worst strategy in the history of racing.
I know that "run at the back" stuff works for her in the 5 and 10k in a diamond league meet or at least a meet without FK, but it was suicide in this meet. Every HS runner knows by senior year that the first 40 meters is free energy, no lactic acid produced. So, she gives away 1-2 sec right from the gun. Then, her plan is to run 1.5 seconds behind FK (of all people) and wait til 400 to go to beat her mano a mano BUT with a 1.5 sec head start AND have to run around 15 other bodies (in the 1500 btw). Who is her coach? That crap doesnt work against a world record holder with at least as good a last 400 as you! SH finished roughly the same distance behind FK that she was when she started the last lap (which means they both ran lightning fast last laps). Falling on the ground in the 10k was less humiliating. Hubris or incompetence I don't know. But she elected to lose.

She did this already in the 2014 Euro Champ 5000 and lost to Meraf Bahta.

given Siffan ran most of the last lap in lane 2 its possible she couldve almost won the darn thing if she just sat on Faith the whole way and waited until the last 100m
Hassan F everything by giving up too much space at the start. You can't do that in 1500 like today's. What was she thinking?
Again why does EVERYONE know this? She has no coach? Such a waste.
hahah, she literally won a major marathon a few months back and THEN won a medal in the 1500m! And some of you clowns will still find something to complain about.

Not another armchair Coach telling an actual Olympic Champion how to run

Yes, because sitting on Faith Kipyegon is a walk in the park.
