The altitude makes it more impressive than the times but better to be undercooked than over- before World's. Plenty of workout heroes are busts at the champs.
I think remember Asbel Kiprop told me he did 4 x 1600m @ 4: 05 down to 3. 55 up at altitude before he almost broke the 1500m world record.
Do you remember how much EPO was he taking at the moment? Or he didn't tell you? Or he didn't remember to tell you?
Asbel actually had the EPO in his body and correctly got busted 4 years. But so,so many things in that case pointed to he was a victime of a conspiration . Even the great Canova admitted it was one of the most strange doping cases .
Chelimo is experienced and knows what workouts he has done before winning the global medals he has. He seemed happy and satisfied that this workout indicates he is close to where he has been before, and he is close to where he needs to be.
A good workout is more than how fast you run and/or how many reps you do. It's how easily the effort flows to you, how you recover between reps and after, how it fits in with other workouts around it, etc.
Henry Rono once said that intervals and track work were mainly for your mind. If you believe a certain workout is a good one, then it probably is a good workout for you.
Seems to me, just seems.. to me; didn't Pre do a similar workout just before the Olympics when he ran 13:28 and got dusted on the last lap? Is there a lesson to be learned here or are there too many variables to relate to such as strategy?
