Sure they do some cringeworthy stuff, but to cheer against them is to cheer against the sport.
I don't agree with this at all. I've loved this sport for fifty years, and I am able to continue to do so despite the many whiny, entitled, narcissistic, unemployed or underemployed "influencers" who currently seem to overwhelm the publicity of this sport at a certain modest level of achievement. And appropriating the pseudonym of their fired founder was, at the very least, extremely bad manners that can reasonably cause one to cheer against them without "cheering against the sport."
You refusing to understand what I said doesn't make it less true. I'm not saying you are required to support them, I'm saying the overwhelming hate towards TME has causes a lot of the running community/fanbase to misunderstand the value of what you do.

I agree 100%. I have problems with groups like Tinman Elite that act like they are much better than they are. They want all the popularity without actually have to train hard to earn it.
I have way more respect for the little guys that work full time jobs and train their tails off and that aren't trying to sell me clothes made in vietnam.
Being an influencer is not an honorable thing, it's someone who tries to sell things to people that they don't need. It's the 2023 equivalent to telemarketers except instead of calling you at home they blast out dozens of social media posts on your home page.
Sure they do some cringeworthy stuff, but to cheer against them is to cheer against the sport. If more groups were as dedicated to media and fan engagement as they are the sport would be in a much better place. They've managed to create a brand that somewhat supports a whole group and gets that group a lot of recognition with pretty limited true talent.
Like it or not we need pro runners (including the wannabe "pros") to step up the social media game, even if that means seeing the occasional narcissistic or cringy miss. The hobby jogger influencers are way ahead of the marketing in this aspect and honestly many of them would probably provide better ROI for companies than a typical contract pro.
Those marketing dollars are going to go wherever they can be best put to use, and I'd much rather have more TME's than Matt Choi's.
you don't get it. Tinman Elite are GRIFTERS.
They sell crappy training plans (that they stole from their former coach) to high schoolers. They sell overpriced clothes with an ugly logo to high schoolers.
They are slower than dozens of collegiate athletes. They aren't even trying to make a world championship team - I'm sorry but hiring Drew's mom was an insult to all of their fans. they had a chance to hire a legit coach and they picked the cheapest, least qualified option.
Their goal is to sell shirts and training plans. running fast is one of their lowest priorities.
You're the one not getting it.
I'm not defending TMEs actions as a whole, I'm saying the hate towards them is making us miss the value of some of what they do.
Outside of Drew and (barely) Parsons there's nothing near world class talent on that team. I'm saying that it would be beneficial to the sport where we have a financial ecosystem that supports people beyond just those that are world class. There's a bunch of people in the NBA and NFL that get paid and will never do anything notable -that's what an economically healthy sport looks like.
The fact that a team of "pros" what wouldn't podium at NCAA XC get the level of support and attention they do is the whole point of why we should appreciate certain aspect of what they do. The bar is incredibly low right now so it should be easy for other wannabe pro's to emulate the good of the TME model while not doing the obviously stupid stuff.
Regarding the "grift": Tom's training is nothing original, if anything he's the OG grifter for overselling basic training concepts as his own brand. Those plans are an order of magnitude better than the average training being sold on the internet. Overpriced clothes? Now you're just being an idiot. Let them sell that stuff. You haven't been on the internet much if you seriously think TME is a grift.

Except you can’t ignore a ringing phone everyday. It’s pretty easy to avoid social media. Dummy.

Who hurt you? Did you not make TME? This is bizarre and vicious.
the amount of members leaving this group is super concerning. That’s legit half their roster leaving before an upcoming Olympic year. Same dilemma like last Olympic cycle. Will tinman go defunct soon?
"Olympic year" Because any of them have a shot at even being close to any podium nationally. Olympic year or any year they are a trash program

There is no value to TME. They sit around all day and play video games. Get a real job and run before or after work like the vast majority of elite athletes in the world. The discipline and maturity they gain from a full time job will actually help them run faster.
Japan dominates USA in the marathon and all of those Japanese guys are working 40+ hours per week.
Yes Tinman himself is a grifter. But the people that steal from a grifter are 100x worse than the original grifter who started it.

You said, "Sure they do some cringeworthy stuff, but to cheer against them is to cheer against the sport." I didn't "refuse to understand what [you] said." I understood exactly what you said, and what you said was patently untrue and frankly rather stupid. If you meant something else, or meant to say something else, you should have the manners to acknowledge that you misspoke and try to say what you had hoped to communicate. But don't falsely accuse me of "refus[ing] to understand what [you] said."
Your latest statement about what you apparently meant to say is odd and ungrammatical, but it's not anything I have much interest in or opinion about. It does seem that you overestimate what the "value" of these particular runners (whom you refer to as "you") do, but I haven't paid attention to them and don't know much about any of them aside from some preening videos that they made of themselves a long time ago and their shoddy treatment of Tom Schwartz after they decided (perhaps correctly -- I don't know) that they no longer wanted him as their coach.
was funding cut? i got the jist that TME didnt even get funded by adidas. i think adidas just allows them to customize/brand their logo onto adidas apparel to sell to help fund themselves? or do they have legit support from adidas. i know hunter/reed/parsons are on real contracts. i assume reed/parsons are like $50k. maybe more? seems like parson's comes from family money anyways so he can do whatever he wants. i heard drew's 10 year deal was pretty huge and lucrative so he's set for life.
how do the other guy's on TME even get by? ive always wondered this. they're in their mid 20s with no contract and are training competitively but do they all have jobs or maybe only some of them do? maybe some are just supported by their parents financially and are just running on the team full time with literally no work commitments? anyone know? i assume they must have at least part time easy jobs to make some $, but perhaps only covering rent and food and they have like zero long-term savings..always been curious how frugal the 'struggling elites' are making it work. are these guys only pulling in like $10-$25k a year from odd jobs but they just have like super minimal expenses? that must be it..i dont know how these people run on a 'pro' team and possibly dont work but still have money apparently lol?
I’m pretty close to the sport and can only tell you what Aaron Templeton has done recently. In general these guys aren’t making a real living from running (or anything at all), you gotta do some sort of work at some point. And Boulder is an expensive area to live.
I actually think it's refreshing OP because I feel like the athletes that are leaving are on good terms (at least it seems). Pro groups don't always post like this when athletes leave. You're seeing some international athletes leave and their only pro athlete leave. Brian has gotten pretty close to making a team in the steeple. My guess is that he'll try to land with a bigger team because he thinks it might position him best for Paris. With the new coaching change, there was bound to be some turnover. Let's see who they bring in.

Their post is clearly just PR (public relations). They learned from their epic communications fail when they fired Tinman. When they break the news, they can spin it however they want.
Make no mistake, this is a DEATH SENTENCE for Tinman Elite. Their already weak roster just got weaker and smaller. The mass exodus shows that there is no faith in Drew's mom as a coach.
“I’m pretty close to the sport and can only tell you what Aaron Templeton has done recently.”
huh? so what’s he done. do you mean performance wise because he’s been injured. or are you saying you know how much money he makes lol? or his work situation. You didn’t spill the actual beans. Confused
i wonder where Barazza will go. He seems to have some solid potential. Hopefully a good team and maybe he got a contract somewhere. I’m pretty sure only Fischer, parsons, and obviously drew have contracts with adidas. I think everyone else on tinman only receives free gear and maybe travel covered. Pretty crazy to me the vast majority of their team is just paying their own way. Seems like most of them have some type of job to support themselves but they must all be making chump chang really and have no savings. It’s a dangerous game for those who may not have wealthy families to support them as a safety net. but I do gotta respect those who are chasing the dream. Just don’t think I could make the trade off myself.

Please say Joey isn't one!!??? He's so close to sub 4 dang it!
