This thread is a massive cesspool of nonsense as usual, but in case anyone actually wanted the facts:
- Gwen had no plans to compete anyways but hadn't removed herself from the testing pool yet. - She tested positive for acne medicine, for which she applied for a TUE twice and was rejected both times. She had been taking the medicine for 9 months and USADA was aware the entire time, and this was the first time it showed up in her sample. - This was vouched for by Ryan Whiting who said he also had a similar experience where he had to get an emergency surgery on a cyst and they denied his TUE application for the substances they used in the operation. He expressed frustrations with certain distance groups being able to get infinite TUEs by having staff on payroll and knowing the precise technical jargon to use, meanwhile many genuine TUE-needers are unable to do so easily.

If she had no plans to compete, then she just needed to retire and get out of the testing pool.
If the facts are what you say, and she knew she needed a TUE, applied for a TUE, it was denied, and she took a prohibited substance anyway, then she should have been banned for life. Any athlete who intentionally chooses to violate anti-doping rules has no business competing. I'm sorry about her acne, but that doesn't mean she can ignore the rules.
If that's your opinion then that's perfectly fine, but this thread seems to have way too many comments for what is practically an irrelevant story in regards to the actual integrity of sport, with several of the comments seemingly already wanting a reason to bash on her as she is too "woke"
It is the second doping ban within a 10-year period for Berry, who was a member of the United States' 2016 and 2020 Olympic teams. She was also suspended in 2016 for three months after using an inhaler containing the banned substance vilanterol trifenatate. Her ban means she will also miss the 2024 Paris Olympics, which begin next July.
It's a diuretic given for hypertension and heart failure. I'm on it! There is NOTHING in that drug that would possibly aid a hammer thrower!
Most athletes get caught using diuretics rather than the steroid they're attempting to flush. But the two go hand in hand.
