Nice race for Ben. Looks like Morgan started off a bit too conservatively, he was flying & passing people at the end.
McDonald looked good finishing strong and had pretty modest goals. I had to laugh when the announcer said watch out for McDonald at the Canadian champs coming up, after this performance, in addition to Flanagan. (McDonald is Australian, FYI.)
Hobbs would’ve gained invaluable experience if he ran this meet. It was basically USA’s minus the top three guys.
Hobbs is in his 1st year after U19. He would have just finished his second year of college competition. The people who have actually met him ( and, you know, actually know him, coach him, etc.) have somehow helped him to 1:45.8 and 3:32.61. But he’s 20 years old now. Time for him to take the next step in his career and crowdsource his racing schedule to the wisdom of LRC posters.
Google is telling me it has cooled off to 72 degrees in LA. Looks promising for a fast time in the Men's 5000 coming up.
No world standards. In fact, nobody was even remotely close. Was under the impression Ben was looking to run at worlds but I guess not…it’s a shame nobody actually went for it. Idk, as a fan it’s pretty boring to see guys talk big game about going for a standard…and then coming up over 10 seconds short (to be fair, they may be capable of it but would rather run slow and then show off their finishing speed).
Once upon a time she was the new "it girl" Among American 800 runners. I think she left texas&am a little to early. She will have to break 2:00 sooner than later

Till the next yawn-fest!
Flannigan was going for it, stated it before the race. If you didn’t catch the race, pacers were the tired tinmen from the steeple and 1500 doing Parsons a favour. not ideal for a tough target time. then Robinson slowed the lead pack and killed any thought anyone had of piggybacking eachother mentally. The whole group just loaded up for a finish, flannigan included, which also allowed McDonald back into the mix from waaaaay back. commentators specifically stated that flannigan’s plan B for making it to Worlds is to win Canadian champs next week and make sure there’s no run on his ranking position by staying in (and winning) WA meets like this.
Lol the announcer called Morgan a Canadian. Get this fool out of here.
I also found it weird that they didn't mention the restaurant empire founded by his father, Ronald, and his time as front man with The Doobie Brothers.

That’s a terrible excuse! If you wanna go for it, actually go for it. Pacers too slow? Pass them! None of these guys are tough enough to actually front run anything. If you want guys to run a world standard, don’t get a bunch of dudes that are tired from already racing that night as pacers.
