Sydney's fine. I've always been more interested in watching her race than thinking about what she says in interviews.
Sydney's interviews aren't interesting for reasons beyond the Christian references. Put simply, she sounds like the introvert-adjacent personality she is. Reserved, and not interested in saying more than the minimum expected of her in that context. The Christian parts end up sounding more...energetic because for those parts she's on autopilot. Jesus literally taking the wheel, in other words. I'm sure she's a perfectly nice young woman, and based on some of the social media stuff she made as a teenager, she opens up socially when she's among familiar friends and family.
She's quite different from Athing Mu in that respect, who is a great and engaging interview. I'd sort of forgotten that until I heard Mu's interviews this weekend. People here have been badmouthing her for her lack of racing, her interest in fashion, etc., but give me some Athing Mu social energy any time.
