It isn't that hard for an athlete to respond graciously to an accolade from a past great, particularly one who still holds the record. Something like - "yeah, it's nice that he said that". That is unless you don't have much respect for anyone except yourself. That wouldn't be Jakob, would it?
I was just looking at El Guerrouj and people talk about the spikes and recovery…
El Guerrouj in 1998 ran the ridiculous 3:26.00 world record in Rome on July 14. He ran 3:44.60 for the mile in a different country (France) on July 16. OK pretty good time to put the legs up? Right? Nope he traveled to Gateshead and ran 4:48 for 2000 on July 19.
Im sorry but it all just defies belief.
So does 7:54.

There is the point that a person who has done only one thing in their still very brief life with the singleminded view of being the best ever at what they do is unlikely to be a rounded human being.
I assume it's the drugs. Didn't he recently make some comment sort of talking about the different drug testing or am I making something up?
Anyways, I've never met anyone who thinks El G was clean. I once asked an Olympic 1500 guy what he thought about El G and he said, "Dirty as hell." I said, "How confident are you?" He said, "110."
So I don't get sued into oblivioun, please realize that doesn't mean he was dirty.
No bs.
How confident are you that most athletes we watch are taking something, even if it's micro-dosing?
I just find it strange that even after the BALCO scandal, many top athletes like Grant, still use supplements which could vary into the 'gray area' stuff that he claims he doesn't use.

Oh man, don't sell yourself short on this!
On July 9, Five days before his World Record. He ran 3:29.12 in Oslo.
These were El G performances in a span of less than 60 Days.
That's 7 1500m Performances, 2 Mile Performances, and a 2000. Look, I ain't saying the guys dirty but he ran 5 Sub 3:30s in a summer and Jakob has ran 7 in 3 years. Two of which were 3:26. Even if he is doped to the gills, that is insane!!!!
Heh yeah I just think the 3 races in 3 countries in 6 days all blazing fast is just especially preposterous. But a 3:26.00 and then 3:44.60 in 48 hours with travel is superhuman.

His 1999 season when hit the 3:43 Mile could also be superhuman. He ran the 2000m record and his 3000m National Best within 2 months.
But, I'd have to argue that Daniel Komen's 1996 Summer was much more superhuman than either of El G's 1998 or 1999 season.
He ran 3000m in under 7:26 three times in three weeks and his last one was his still-standing 7:20.67 3000m WR. Not to mention he ran a 12:45 5000m in the middle of these three weeks and would run a 12:52 5000m just six days after his last 3000m.
He can be the star figure we need in Distance Running.
He's non-African, Has Charisma, Has the Speed to back the talk, and destroyed a World Record that was set when he wasn't even alive. AND....he has over 400,000 followers on Instagram.

No doubt. El Guerrouj's reputation on this forum is hardly representative of where it stands within the sport as a whole. Jakob is properly aligning with the big block and the likelihood.
Q (Paraphrased): Hicham El Guerrouj tweeted about you with a congratulations and king emoji. What's it mean for someone like that to react to your performance?
A: Ummmmmmm I mean It's cool that people ummmm follow along I guess.
I think that Jakob pretty clearly doesn't care much for El Guerrouj. Reading between the lines, it's either professional jealousy, competitiveness, or suspicion of drug use. A very different reaction to this sort of question than you might get in other situations.
I think you mean - 'resentment at the obvious fact that El G was juiced out of his mind when he put the WRs out of reach even for the best like Jakob 30 years later'.
This best part of this interview is when the reporter said that 8 guys broke 3:30 trying to chase him down and Jakob responded no there were 7 guys trying to hold on. LOL...classic
I would guess it is not that Jakob doesn’t like him as much as it he wouldn’t have been alive or when alive old enough to appreciate Hicham’s performances so maybe it would be a bit like Sebastian Coe being congratulated by John Landy, just in terms of eras. The generations separate them. So Jakob could have been more gracious for sure but…
That's bull. Jakob has said that he knows all about the history of the sport.

As someone who is smarter than you, I NEVER said Jakob didn’t know about him, just as Sebastian would have known about Landy. That was not my point and the fact that you misinterpreted it shows your paucity of it intelligence. I would have known about Emil Zatopek but if somehow he were still alive I am not sure his tweet would have meant that much to me.
El G knows that if Jakob was doping like he was, he would have ran 3:22 minimum in Oslo.
I am so tired of your racism. When will you stop? So the only man to run under 7:55 is CLEAN? If he were not white you would have crucified him by now.
