I don't know how A Wilson feels but in general, age 28 is when we often see decline in 800m athletes. She has been a highly competitive 800m athlete for awhile.
As we just saw, assuming Ah Gee Wilson is the next fastest 800 runner in the world there's no one except Mu who can push/pull Keely to a fast time. She got great pacing in Paris and sans Mu I think that's the only way she could cut more time. I too would say 1:54 high or 1:55 low. But not too soon because where does she go after that?
Firstly, pacing was poor as happened once indoors this year. Hodgkinson overtook this woman outside and had to push her inside.
Secondly the next fastest is Mary Moraa, not Ajeé Wilson. What's more Moraa, even with her 1:56.71 PB only, is a very tough, unpredictable opponent and a medal contender.
1:54 will be KH lifetime best. Maybe mid maybe high.
3 things inaccurate otherwise it's a good post.
They had the pacer set for 57.6 and she hit 57.35. That's poor?
Keely didn't push aside the pacer, she accelerated unexpectedly then the pacer stepped off on the inside. The pacer did her job, it was the time set that was off because it was obvious Keely felt much stronger.
Last year doesn't matter, right now Wilson has run 1:58.16 and Moraa 1:58.72 at Rabat.
You guys need to acknowledge that 1:55 was greatly helped by the pacing lights also.
She passed the pacemaker around 500 meters, and before the 600 meter mark she was ahead of the lights and wouldn't have been able to use them for the rest of the race.

Baby steps. Let's see Keely Hodgkinson run a top 25 600m, 84.7 before anyone proclaims Keely Hodgkinson is capable of racing back to back 56 second 400m. S Coe? What does S Coe have to do with a woman's potential at 800m?
I don't think that the deep sub 1:54 territory of Kratochvilova and Olizarenko* is a possibility for clean-runnin' XX women (without another decade or two of significant further spike/track development).
The 'plausible WR' is Jelimo's all-time #3 mark of 1:54.01. My gut says that neither Hodginson or Mu will ever get close to that time, but given they've both only just turned 21, who knows? Quirot is all-time #5 with 1:54.44; I think/hope both women will better that during their careers.
* ...whose second best times were 1:54.68 and 1:54.85 respectively
moj, I don't think any of the performances anywhere near the top of that list are possible for clean running XX women. Sorry! Take that out of it and I agree with everything you said. What do you think of the list (women's outdoor)?
The 800 metres, or meters (US spelling), is a common track running event. It is the shortest commonly run middle-distance running event. The 800 metres is run over two laps of an outdoor (400-metre) track and has been an Olym...

If this is a joke I'm not getting it.
I'm not either. 84.7 is 1:24.7 for 600, at the pace Keely was running this she hit 600 in around 1:26.5 so pretty sure she can 2 seconds faster in a 600.

Quite apart from the fact that she ran a 1:23.41 600m indoors just a few months ago.

This has nothing to do with what I said. It was a fast race. Last year it was a 1:56. The time that comes on the day of a championship is what it is, there's no guarantee it will be fast, as I said. You shouldn't be necessarily expecting her to run 1:53 (or 1:54) if the race doesn't set itself up that way. For her to do that Athing or someone else would have to take the race out hard as Keely is not going to do that with Athing there, unless she senses early that Athing is not in shape and decides to take over.

It's quite a short list once you remove the Soviet era Eastern Bloc and intersex times. I want to believe in Jelimo and I absolutely believe in Quirot; with the above exclusions, Mu moves up to #3.

Which is the reason why Athing Mu won't race an 800 until the world championships. She and Bobby Kersee don't want the other runners to find out how out of shape Mu is right now, so that Mu can still retain a psychological edge over the rest of the field.

Ignore your thoughts regarding 800m to 600m conversion. Some 800m athletes set 600m p.b. en route.
