Impressive how Robinson held it together in the last 100. I thought Hicks would get him.

What a terrible race, all of that just for a sit and kick race. What a bunch of wusses
Whoa, 54.19 last lap for Ky?!? Is that the fastest ever last lap in the NCAAs?
I posted my predictions on FB, forgot to put 'em here. Not that I got it right, but at least I didn't underrate Ky TOO much! What happened to the prediction contest?
1. Charlie Hicks, Stanford, 28:15
2. Dylan Jacobs, Tennessee, 28:15
3. Ky Robinson, Stanford, 28:16
4. Victor Kiprop, Alabama, 28:17
4. Casey Klinger, BYU, 28:19
5. Isai Rodriguez, OK State, 28:22
1/2 minute slower than Hick’s PB. But good job, nonetheless.
Wow that humidity looked dreadful, guys were just glistening
1:56.85 last 800 ..
What happened to Iverson? dropped last lap. Is he okay?
To get 7th, you needed a 59 last lap. All but one of the top six closed about a second faster than the guy behind him. 59, 58, 58, 57, 56, 55, 54. I was worried that Hicks hadn't won when I was scrolling up one finisher at a time and saw a 56 for just 3rd place, because Hicks has good, but not great closing speed. Robinson's close is impressive in those conditions but not impressive enough for him to turn pro prior to xc season--same with Hicks, so unless something changes we are looking at potentially, on paper, one of the greatest ever xc teams in 2023 Stanford, returning the national xc champ/2nd 10k, the 10k national champ, Cole Sprout (low 13:20s), Leo Young (16th World Jr xc), Lex Young (13:34), and some of those other guys who ran 22/23 in an 8k last year.
Off the top of my head I'm sure this is one of the faster winning times with a great last 3 laps. Some people will never be pleased eh?
Yeah, the temp only dropped 9 degrees from the 90 degree high (that's what it was when I did a short run at noon outside of Austin, but might have been hotter in the city), but the humidity went up from 49% to 79%. Pretty rough. That's why I knew times wouldn't dip under 28.
Ky's performance at World XC was really impressive, and my first gut instinct was to pick him for the win, but I listened too much to the hype about Jacobs.
Isai will always be my goat
Not sure but he hasn’t been racing up to his standards lately so I bet something is up
Not too far off the meet record, Patrick Dever's 27:41 from 2021. Coincidentally, it was 2 seconds off the facility record, set by Isai Rodriguez, also in 2021.
It takes a Brisbane boy to win in that humidity
He has the better kick; Hicks has the better PB.
So is it a little humorous that after going out and warming up in the conditions, he convinced Hicks to change their strategy to just wait and then kick the last 400m?
Let’s see what Imogen can do in the 800m.
It would have been nice to see Rodriguez pull it off, but he has to know the way he ran is almost never a winning strategy in a championship race.
