But the last five minutes takes about a half hour to play because the game essentially turns into a junior high school girl's slap fight, trading of free throws, and time outs to get more ads shown.
I can say this is the single solitary reason I dont watch basketball anymore (for the most part). Esp, NCAA. Guy gets fouled with 60 sec left....coach wants timeout before free throws. Makes first free throw...CALLS another timeout to reset what they need to do. In bound ball, other team calls timeout to get the ball at half court. 3 timeouts, no clock run but 1 sec on in bound! Its so painful and ironically, the game would be so much more exciting relying on the chaos and decision making of these kids down the stretch instead of unlimited timeouts (seemingly) for the old coot coach to reset each and every possession. Its horrible. Hockey--one timeout total! NFL and NCAA you have be judicious as heck with TOs. BBall, 20 timeout per half +TV timeouts.
The LA cope narrative is that the Lakers really figured out something with Rui Hachimura guarding Jokic in the 4th quarter and NOW the Nuggets are in big trouble.
The Nuggets won 50% of their games exactly like they did last night: Blow out a team early, get bored and let them back into the game, and then beat them again in crunch time. If AD can't guard Jokic, it's safe to assume that Hachimura won't be able to either. The Nuggets will adjust and the Lakers will have to come up with a different approach on the fly during game 2.
AD had 40 points. Lebron had a triple double. Reaves was hot from 3. And they still lost. Nuggets might win this in 5.

People keep saying that as if the same wasn't true for Denver? The nuggies played the game of the year in the first half? Can they be expected to do that every game? I dont know, but the logic applies both ways. Its profoundly bad that AD has no answer. I feel like if I had that freakish size and athletics, I could keep someone in check!!!
The Lakers best player is the worst 3 point shooter left in the playoffs
Fixed.
You are a box score watcher, not watching the actual games. AD is by far their #1. In the playoffs, Rui has been their #2 twice, DLo once, and Reeves a few times. LeBron melted down at the end of Game 1 - missed 2 three pointers, 2 free throws and a costly turnover while Reeves and Davis led the comeback down 18.

You could easily make an argument for either AD or Lebron being the Laker's best player right now, and really only because Lebron is old.
In game one, Lebron had 26 on excellent shooting and nearly a triple double.
Thank you for repeating the box score. Now do the same for AD. Then breakdown LeBron in the final minute. Your synopsis above is referring to only the good things. Not the lack of defense, the meltdown at the end or his complete lack of outside shooting in Game 1. He was either the 4th or 5th most impactful player in the game

Halfway thru Game 2, Rui Reeves DLo and AD have all been better than LeBron. So 3rd best Laker in Game 1 and 5th best in Game 2
