Remember Nedeti, the 1993,1994,1995 Boston champ? He only ran good at Boston. He dam near got beat by Loroupe in a race right before one of his wins at Boston. This will start to happen to Kipchoge. Before you know it he will be running 33:30 10ks. Although super fast for a man in his late 50s as he is. Why doesn't he just come clean and tell us he is pushing 60 years of age and is doping to the gills?
Y'all are some real haters.. praying on Kipchoge's downfall. He is great for the sport, he proves that even the best of the best have bad days. Also arguably Boston wasn't even necessarily a "bad day" for him, he still managed to get 6th with so many things not panning out the way he wanted. It is apart of racing.. most importantly he didn't drop out, he finished with perseverance and dignity.
Hey here's a theory (not saying it's true but brainstorming) perhaps he raced this event clean because he was bored of winning dirty and wanted to see how he could do. Or do they have adequate drug testing at Boston and he got spooked? He's probably protected like Bolt and HGH/EPO LeBron anyways.
I think this experience will set him up nicely for Paris 2024. He had difficulty on the hills, and he knows it now. Better to lose now than on the hilly course of Paris. He blew up in London 2020 and used that experience to become absolutely dominant in 2021.
It's good to see he's stepping outside his comfort zone rather than the usual London/Tokyo. Hopefully he runs NYC later this year and Boston again next year. Keen to see the three-peat.
If E Kipchoge were 20-something, maybe. He is done.
This lose reminds me of:
George Foreman losing to Mohammed Ali;
Forty year old men do not have come backs. When 40 year old men lose their crown, they are done.
Foreman won the crown back when he was about 45 beating Moorer.

I think this was good for the sport- it adds to the mystique of Boston- the GOAT couldn't conquer it.
It got people talking.
The weather was the classic Boweman- There is no bad weather only weak people.

So much venom for an athlete of truly unparalleled excellence over an unparalleled length of time. “Oh, he shouldn’t have run in the front, he should have trained for the hills, he’s old and washed up….” I just love all the hobby joggers and also rans wagging their fingers and snapping their fingers at one of the greatest figures ever in this sport’s long history. What a joke. Yes, Chebet is amazing and EK had a bad day like in London 2020, but count him out at your own peril. Not to mention, that even after blowing up and jogging in and still beat every American handily. No wait, Fauble was running him down, just needed another km to have a Kipchoge scalp🤣
Why don't people take his word for it? He says he was injured at about 30K. He wasn't outkicked or outperformed; he slowed dramatically with a sore upper leg. That's a full and believable explanation. Clearly hills did not do in a world-beater from the Rift Valley.
These washed hobby joggers on LRC are so quick to count others out as soon as someone has one "bad race". EK said he had an upper leg injury, what happened to giving others the benefit of the doubt especially since he has won so many races. He truly is inspiring even on his "off" days.

Do you think he would say it if the actual reason was that he was off the juice?

It’s people like you that enabled the likes of Lance Armstrong.
Lance didn’t do anything wrong.. he just did what everyone else was doing in order to keep up. Lance gets a horrible wrap for his doping scandal, but he still remains a hero in my eyes. Most people think that doping just makes a regular hobby jogger into the worlds next best athlete.. literally no. It still requires hours upon hours of sweat and dedication to compete at a high level and Lance did just that, he evened his playing field.
