Yes I think this maybe should be clarified by the OP. What’s the end goal here? Is it to break 3? To run as good a full as your half? Run to your maximal potential? I think a lot of posters are answering to question no 2 and a few to no 3. How big a mileage jump you make and how many long runs you should do kinda depends on what you’re targeting. But if you’re running 1:18 on quite low mileage you are talented and running great with the workload you’re doing. I think you can do just a little more to achieve sub 3, but if you’re after sub-2:50 or your best performance yes you’ll need to build up
Good question about the end goal and I don’t have a clear answer. I have improved a lot in a year, since I started to focus on running, and I just set short term goals depending on current fitness. Like 1 year ago my goal for 10k was sub40, and 4 months ago I did 35:56 doing 20-25mpw, then I increased mileage a bit and figure I could aim at sub 1:20 hm, and so on. Sub3 was just the natural objective here but long-term I think I just want to maximise my potential under the resources I have (like I don’t see myself ever be able to run 100mpw, but let’s say I’m willing to run 6-7-8 times a week and want to do my best given that). Also I’m just 25 and been running for 2 or 3 years, so it can still change a lot.
